Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Yeah, all of those recipes that work in multiples other than 2 (slabs, paper, fences, ladders, stairs come to mind) will be much less of a pain to make now.

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.55)

Now that I've had some time to run around on my server, I'm impressed with how this feels in practice. It's not an obnoxious effect, but it's not negligible either.
Also, is it just me or did you tweak hunger drain for sprinting through slow terrain? (dashing through the snow...)

Re: Where do you find space?

As far as space goes, I usually set up what resembles a little village, each purpose (milling, sawing, etcs) getting their own building. I'm currently running a co-op server where these buildings are all connected by hallways so it's more like a sprawling complex, but still.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Man, a neat way to handle tnt carts not destroying tracks would have been to have them not destroy any blocks at or below the height of the cart. Say that the iron cart shapes the blast somewhat, or something. Same intended functionality, and allows for amusing shenanigans with multiple tracks. Oh w...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of December 17th)

Holy smokes! I wander away for a year and all the hintings of backstory from the start of the steel age are actually coming in to play?! The lore was always a part of that internal design consistency that I loved about this mod, I'll definitely have to get back into this and head Home when the time ...

Use of XP to create Soul Urns

So, we've fluffed XP orbs to be little bits of souls, right? And we've currently got urns in which we store souls. What I'm proposing is one or two new ways to create soul urns based on experience rather than the nether chain. If actually possible, the ability for hoppers to dump xp orbs straight in...

Re: [Suggestion] Heavy machinery - a little inspiration

Sorry. I think my english is not good enough to explain what i was thinking about. I didn't ask, to add steam engines, or locomotives. I just used them as an example. I suggested, to keep hi-tech things with "heavy feel". Powerfull, and a bit unstable. If it will be steamengine (i dont th...

Re: Spiders being damaged/thrown back by spinning axles

The notion of machinery being dangerous is also in the mod in the form of the companion blocks too. But yeah, knocking entities on them to the side could have a number of uses. - short axle bridges or traps made impassible by applying power to them - add more depth to the safe construction and maint...

Ooh, this I like. Have cement flows replace any iron bars they encounter with a reinforced cement block and extend the normal flow past it.

If a cauldron or crucible receives mechanical power from the side, alternate between right side up and flipped over. Turntable's a vertical rotation, axles seem fine for horizontal.

What do you mean more durable?
As in actually taking time to break as compared to the ropes we have now which take a single hit or flow of liquid.

I've thought of that yeah. Make them powerable like normal redstone torches are, and when up against the portal frame they can be used to toggle the portal on or off. ...except someone coming through the other side would probably just spawn a new portal somewhere else, putzing everything up. Ah well...

They'll just go and download the cracked version then, which will be made if this happens. Antipiracy methods like that are shaky enough moral-wise when checking for purchase, but verifying that you haven't offended the creator? That strikes me as supremely petty, even for Flower.
