It's actually an enjoyable video after you get past the two minute intro. Skip to 2:10 in the video to watch the real content. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KuH0-99 ... age#t=131s

Here's a summary of the data if you just can't watch videos:

They assume each pixel in the texture of steve's armor 3-model is equivalent to a 1/16 meter cubed diamond. Using the density of the diamond, they calculate that full set of diamond armor weighs well over 500 kg (1000 lbs). Even though cloudy, opaque diamonds the worst kind, so his suite would only be worth 4.2 billion dollars. However since the diamonds are blue diamonds, that makes them worth about 20 times as much. So Steve is walking around in an 88 billion dollar suite. Diamonds would actually make a poor armor material be cause they can be split easily from certain angles.
Another way to count the cost of Steve's armor is by counting how many diamonds it takes to craft the armor. Helmet is 5, breastplate is 8, leggings are 7, and boots are 4, which makes a total of 24 diamonds to craft a set. Since it takes 9 diamonds to make a cubic meter (Diamond storage Block), 24 diamonds would be 2.67 meters cubed. That much diamond, according to their research, would weigh over 9000 kg (20,000 lbs). This is 17.78 times more diamonds than the dude in the video calculated. That would bring the total cost of crafting Steve's armor to 1.6 trillion dollars.

The other day just for fun I calculated out how much the enchanted golden apple (the one that uses gold blocks) would cost. It was in roughly the same neighborhood. 9 cubic meters of gold is more than enough to retire on.

With the sad part of course being that noone in the world would ever give calculations like these a single thought if Notch had called the material "Mithril", "Adamantium" or "Difficult-to-obtainium" like most other fantasy games with resource gathering. I just don't see it being worth the time to do stuff like this, as it's really just dependant on what the first word that came to Notch's mind was, when he was coding the sneaky little things.

Probably because we don't have a real world market for said other resources, unfortunately :P

Depends on the Calibur :P
All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.

Did you draft contracts in blood or am going too old-school with it?

Actually, I knew a girl that would've liked that. Kept biting my lip. Very annoying.

Eh, it wouldn't be much more in the scheme of things: It used to be you had to pony up someone's deepest desires for each purchase.

Souls really are a buyers' market these days.
