Morvy's Side Project (Was: Need Help with a Decision)

Post by morvelaira »

Hi guys! One of the hobbies I have away from Minecraft (gasp! Non-computer hobbies!) is counted cross stitch. What is that? Basically a form of embroidery were I make a picture using cloth and thread in tiny little x patterns! Well, I completed a project recently, and I need to get going on the next one. I've looked and searched, and now I need help narrowing down which one to do next. Why not ask the opinion of my friends here, I wondered!

I know there's several options here, but this is what I could narrow it down to (each spoiler contains photos):

Permission to Be Free
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=8331

Impossibilium
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=8941

Joy, Faith, Hope and Love
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=7464

Orchids
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=6303

Cosmic Clock
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=6126

Pirat
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=7602

The Sweet Music of Spring
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... cts_id=559

Paradise Maiden
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=9032

Tea Bath
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=3138

Telsa
http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=6829

Please let me know what you guys think, and if you'd like to see 'in-progress' shots of the one I wind up working on. All of these patterns were chosen because I like the subject matter, general composition and I feel like they would be interesting pieces to work on. I just can't pick!

Edit: Changed out spoilers for links. grumble grumble not showing pictures easy grumble...

That sounds really cool, but I can't see the images either, and the URLs take me to an error page

I was immensely disappointed when I clicked on Tesla. xD Ah well.

My vote is Cosmic Clock. Looks like a tasty mix between mythology, astrology, and a hint of steampunk!

Now they work :)

My vote would be for either Cosmic Clock or Tesla

I was disappointed with Telsa too. Like the rest of you, I read it Tesla first. :P

These are all very nice, but I think my vote would go for either Telsa or Tea Bath. I like the whimsical quality of those two. :)

I really like Impossibilium but I think it would look odd in thread colours unless you did it in layers which is a lot more work than it turned out to be worth back when I did cross-stitch. Cosmic Clock suffers from metallics, which are difficult to do in thread. Telsa on the other hand is a steampunk rule 63'd Nikolai Tesla, the most awesome engineer of all time. Go with Mykola Tesla and never admit to the misspelled surname.

Pirat, because every kitty needs a pirat side-kick.

And OMG this is nothing like the cross-stitching my sister taught me! It was just simple pixel art that she had me doing.

Whelp! You guys (and my livestream audience) have spoken! I'll be buying Cosmic Clock as a main piece, with Telsa as an alternate in case I wind up hating Cosmic Clock for some reason. I'll also be buying Tea Bath as something comparatively quick and easy to switch off on when I inevitably need a break from the main project. :)

Okay! The patterns are finally here, and I've hit the craft store for the needed materials. Figured before I got started I'd share a picture of everything laid out. Keeping this straight is going to be "fun"!

Hi guys :) It's been about a week since I started stitching, so I figured I'd share a photo on my progress. You can't really make any of the image out yet, but I've got some significant work done, nonetheless.
