Well they stated 1.4 would be the mod api/rendering rewrite. http://www.mojang.com/2012/07/minecraft ... pshot-w27/

But more loot in dungeons and carrot on sticks...

They have been saying that each update since 1.1 was going to be the Mod API and extended block IDs. And each time they haven't done it, it is the way Mojang works.

At least this time they really have done anything game breaking other then a nerf to spawner based traps, which IMO took far too long anyway.

Hmm, after a brief trip to the MCF I saw that mojang intends to implement more decorative blocks. Thoughts?

The recent two weeks Dinnerbone and I (jeb_) have worked a lot on new features, both our own and suggestions from the community. Before you ask, the API that will allow you to do your own features is waiting for a large restructuring of the render engine to be completed. I’ll write more about this in a future blog post.

That doesn't mean anything really. They're doing a render engine rewrite, probably for the extended texture indices, and then working on the mod API. I still fully expect it to be in 1.4 (after 2 frigging more months), they're just saying there's nothing related to it in the snapshot.

Decorative blocks are pretty much always a good thing in my book. These ones don't really jump out at me though.

The "Hardcore" in Hardcore chicken is the fact that they need seed to drop eggs, not to breed them.

He already disables wheat breeding, not really a big deal to disable breeding with some other item. If I know his work I'd say he killed breeding altogether on chickens, so this probably will already be handled.

Notch likes the Oculus Rift!
Just got a demo of the Oculus Rift, and am 100% impressed and will make 0x10c compatible with it. kickstarter.com/projects/15233… (maybe minecraft too)
I have to say I'd love to play minecraft with this - imagine the fear exploring caves in true VR. Crossing my fingers that the Rift works and doesn't cost a fortune.

The above scares me. I just want a mod API for easier integration with the existing code base, and they seem intent on over-engineering the thing to the max.

They're aiming 1.4 for Halloween not because that's how much time they need, but because they're themeing it. The Mod API was mentioned several times, but it always downplayed. They were desperately trying to lower expectations for it.

Yeah, I didn't look at all of it, and assumed the lower third text was in order. I do agree, though, about the API. I doubt they'll do it by 1.4.

& at around 3:31:00 they're talking about 1.5, saying that they are working on rebuilding the rendering engine from the ground up & that it will take at least 1 and a half month more to finish BEFORE they can start working on the API ...
