New Soft-body physics in CryEngine 3
Just a little thing I thought I'd share

Following Notch's tweets, I see? ;)

They did this... for a game?
I am impress.
But I pity the artists or whoeverthefuck is going to make the models behave like that. I also wonder how many different models of cars they're going to put in the game - not many I reckon.
No, honestly, that's a huge amount of work.
I wouldn't do it. I am impressed, but I wouldn't do it.

No actually, I rarely go on twitter now. Someone I subscribed to on YouTube liked it how I found it.M!C wrote:Following Notch's tweets, I see? ;)

That video has been all over the net, quite interesting.
CryTek is the company that usually set the record for graphics and physics. Too bad they often also design for the future, ie. there are very few computers that can play their games at highest settings at the time of launch without lag.

Wow, I'm pretty interested. Granted, my shitty rig won't be able to play any games made with the engine, but hey, looks great regardless.

It's gorgeous! But I think you guys are right, whatever game uses this game will be just like Crysis in that it will be the trial by fire for whatever pitiful, not next-generation computer that tries to run the game.

If this works as advertised it could revolutionize crash test simulations in the design phase of more than just automobiles. Anything that requires destructive testing would be able to make use of it. Combine it with genetic algorithms and it would take a lot of the cost out of engineering optimization.
