Battle axe and tall grass

I've recently starting using steel tools and I've noticed that unlike the other axes the hunger bar shakes when destroying tall grass whith a battle axe. Is that intended, a bug or is something with my install? Has anyone else noticed this?

Did you try with the regular steel axe?

I've tried just now and the regular steel axe works as intended, the hunger bar doesn't shake.

Sounds like it's intentional then. It may have been an oversight but I would guess intentional. The battle axe is a pretty hefty weapon after all and maybe swinging it around to clear grass isn't the best use case.
