Well, not that bad if it's done in a reasonable manner. The game maintains a player list, so if this is only targeting players, there's no reason to not just scan through that (I do that with the mod's modified beacons), and do a quick distance squared check.DaveYanakov wrote: Zombies being attracted from long distances is a great mechanic but I can't see it being cost effective if every zombie is scanning a 170 meter sphere all the time. Granted, it's not a given that Mojang will realize that and not perform instanceof checks on every single entity in that radius to see if it's a player, and I've seen them do stuff like that in the code before (like with beacons).
