Superb Mod :-)

First of all - many thanks for making such an excellent mod - and putting so much care and thought into it - it really has changed the Minecraft experience for me totally. Whilst I registered a good while ago - it's only really been over the past few days that I've really been playing btw - and wow! what a difference in difficulty early on! takes so long to make any sort of progress and being scared of mobs again is excellent.

Can I ask one quick question - I've eventually come across a couple villages but neither had any crops - so does that mean that only a rare village will have crops?

Villages within a large radius around spawn will be abandoned and have no crops or villagers. If you go far enough out, though, you will find villages with crops.

Or just, walk through the nether. It's only about 400 blocks or so in there.

Building a rail line is easier in the later game, quite a lot of time after first making your way into hell.

Although you're probably better off going out further so that you have non-abandoned terrain in every direction when you pop out.

The villages I found had villagers in them, but no crops. Will stop looking for now and will try again once I get to the nether.

No, that's not correct. Partially abandoned do have some crops (wheat specifically), just not a lot of them, and not a wide variety.
