Saving Chunks Crash on using Wooden Pick

Post by morvelaira »

With the latest BTW (2.93) and Forge (1.06) installed, the "saving chunks" screen will come up and will crash to black screen when attempting to hold the Wooden Pick as the active item. This was done on a fresh world. Please let me know if you need more information.

Your modloader.txt file in the .minecraft folder may help to show if there is a conflict due to another mod or install error.

I am not having this problem. Did you install ModLoader and then Forge or the other way around? Also, did you use a clean minecraft.jar?

i didn't use a clean jar. i had modloader, TMI, SPC, (i was doing some testing, dont judge me), ID resolver, BTW and forge 1.04. I put in forge than BTW, but i dont think this is an installation error

Odd. I did the following and was able to craft, equip, and use a wood pick with no problem.

1. Clean jar
2. Delete META-INF
3. Install ModLoader
4. Install Forge Client 1.0.6
5. Install BTW 2.93
6. New world
7. Harvest logs, construct wooden pick
8. Mine dirt.

I thought BTW 2.93 required Forge 1.0.6 now?

Guys, you can't just install Forge 1.06 over 1.04 (if that's what you were using). A clean install is absolutely necessary.

When in doubt ALWAYS clean install your mods.

Moving to tech-support.

I get saving chunks even with a refined pick. And I'm using a clean install of Forge 1.0.6 (as well as everything else: BTW, TMI and Zombe)

Ok, after testing it, it seems that the problem (for me at least) is the gs.class from Zombe (used for the flying mod). Without it I can use picks without any problem but with it I always get chunk crashes.

It is probably a conflict with Forge rather than BTW since Forge uses gs.class but BTW doesn't.

I know, I used it when BTW could use 1.0.4. Now however I noticed that it stops working if the only change I make is overwrite the Forge gs.class with the one from Zombe.

Then I'm sure you're using an outdated version of Modloader or the Forge, or that you forgot some mods in your /mods folder, because it's working perfectly for everyone else :o

you have to get a clean jar, for some reason that i dont fully understand, outdated forge versions can not just be overridden by placing the newer version into your jar

Because they removed some of the baseclass modification or changed the place they've put their hooks in the version 1.0.5, so if you don't start from a clean .jar you won't delete the old, and now unnecessary, file from the Forge 1.0.4.
But he said he was using a clean .jar, so I don't think that's the problem.
