Remember Remember...
Remember remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot...
Happy Guy Fawkes day everyone! And when I say that I mean V for Vendetta day.
Am I the only one who watches V for Vendetta every November 5th?
Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot.

Re: Remember Remember...
Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

Gods damn it. I totally forgot about this year. Last year I had an explosives themed release for this date (which got released slightly late mind you ;) ), and considering I just revamped explosives in MC, this would have been the perfect occasion for such a release :)

Well you did have your hands full with the update drudgery. And you could do a delayed release this year too, it should improve your mood methinks. And more things that go boom (and possible go terribly wrong if not done correctly) is always welcome, I mean blasting oil made CRAFTING a nerve-wracking adrenaline filled experience.FlowerChild wrote:Gods damn it. That's not a bad idea actually. Blowing shit up is always good for my morale, and there's still quite a bit of work I can put into Hardcore Explosives.Ferrus.Manus wrote: Well you did have your hands full with the update drudgery. Errrr...what does it say in the splash screen texts? 10th of Novemeber? That's the date I released last year, so maybe we can make it an annual thing for the mod :)
Yup, just checked. It's the 10th. Ok, it's a date :)

Re: Remember Remember...
And after a couple of smokes and a cup of coffee, I think I have most of the release planned out :)
Obviously, I've been building towards something with gunpowder with my whole reworking of it in the tech tree. I'll just be rearranging my priorities to make sure we have a themed release on the appropriate date.
This should be good :)

Ah good ol 'Guy Fawkes.
This is the first time experiencing Guy Fawkes in my current house.
The fireworks display was nowhere near my house, yet it still rattled with every explosion

Guy Fawkes has come and gone,
But memories still linger,
I held a banger in my hand,
Has anybody seen my finger?
Can't recall the author, may have been Spike Milligan?

Time to stockpile explosive / flammable materials is dangerous large quantity's.
Re: Remember Remember...
Yay, more things that go boom! I'm not up to blowing-things-up tier yet, but more stuff to look forward to. Maybe I'll be up to SFS by Christmas, and then I can explode stuff :D :P
All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.

Re: Remember Remember...
Read tom_savage's reply (2nd reply to the OP). That explains it all. But for the sake of indulgence:
In the early 17th (1605?), there was a plot (which was foiled, on Nov 5th) to kill the then King James I and VI (of England and of Scotland respectively) and members of parliament. There are politics involved, so I shan't go into it in any more detail, but the result is that it has become an English tradition to burn a bonfire with a scarecrow atop (as Guy Fawkes, one of the conspirators) and set off fireworks on Nov 5th as an anniversary. Judging from the amount of American interest, it seems that it is a tradition that occurs in America, too.
The marvel comics and film V for Vendetta focus around a character who wears a Guy Fawkes mask, and attempts to topple the government, using 5th of November as his main date, which is why many of us watch it on Nov 5th.
If you want to read more, google "Guy Fawkes" or "The Gunpowder Plot", and you should get a heck load of information (:.

There isn't an official American tradition but there are many of us yanks who love the movie and that's why we celebrate every year.

Just amending this, not just an english tradition but a tradition shared amongst most (if not all) of the commonwealth.AddyBaha wrote:but the result is that it has become an English tradition to burn a bonfire with a scarecrow atop

Re: Remember Remember...
Hence: English tradition, not Tradition in England. I didn't know it was shared amongst most of the commonwealth, but I knew it wasn't just in the UK (which in turn, wouldn't be a tradition in England). So I used English tradition to mean people with English heritage (:.Ethinolicbob wrote:Just amending this, not just an english tradition but a tradition shared amongst most (if not all) of the commonwealth.
EDIT: On second thoughts, "British Tradition" would probably be what I meant to say for clarity (:.

Nuh-uh, the event may be 400-year-old, but people are still dying because of the politics involved. So again, we shan't go into it in any more detail.Last_Jedi_Standing wrote:I think four-hundred-year-old politics are probably acceptable. :-P
