Re: New Release! (BTW V4.70)
Wow! Put a few hours into a new world and it is incredibly enjoyable. Highlights: -shock when my wooden pick dissapeared and was replaced with a cobblestone block. -turning one of those standalone desert wells into a shelter, lost in the desert. -pillaging a desert pyramid took forever (no pillar) a...

Re: Don't Starve - initial thoughts and opinions
I like to think of it as a controlled burn :) Plus I plant my fair share of tree rows. The best part about tree harvesting with pigs has to be the added meat when they summon the tree guards. So funny that the pigs chop to their doom after observing my initial strike and the tree guard ignores me be...

Re: Living Rough
That is by far the best part of HCS, after a HC penalty short of world deletion. Being able to stumble upon and return to your previous or forgotten buildings. In the present world I had 4 or 5 failed attempts at a start, a couple of MC days into each build. Once I got established and began to ventu...

That and nethercoal... Just too optimal of a recipe to pass up. Especially when you are lighting all chunks including caves in a 128 x 128 block reach for grinders.

Re: 4.69 Gameplay Balance Discussion Thread
I will skip all the parts are think are great (most all HC changes). I have 48-72 hours into a world started on 4.65. I still skip leather for gold armor starting because I need the leather to mechanize. I wore chain for a bit and iron, quickly skipping to diamond as you had better go all in for pro...

Re: Don't Starve - initial thoughts and opinions
Yes that would be intuitive to break the headstone or at least transplant. Will have to see if signs show on world map. Kind of hooky but you could mark areas done. I have plenty of friendly tree guards around that I can look at to knock my sanity out. Standoffish for now because the only times it h...

Re: Don't Starve - initial thoughts and opinions
I hope they continue to add great content. Between DS, BTW, KSP and Terarria I have not bought a AAA game in forever.
It is too bad stone has a limit. Scarcity is good in games to give value but I prefer scarcity due to challenge not finite. Need a golem added as a boss for stone here and there.

Re: Don't Starve - initial thoughts and opinions
I find that winter lets me build up monster jerky to bribe the pigs as well as plan for summer projects. The winter is a bit opressive but I like that it is a natural pause and somthing you must plan around. I would venture more but I am in fear of running into the deer aways from my base. I have ye...

Re: Long Distance Move for a Grinder
Ty for the points on the trap, I had not considered controlling slime spawn. Maybe I will lock down a part with light toggle for mobs and use spawning surface toggle for the slime via piston. I only need a few of the witch drops as I go really easy on the potions. I am a sticky piston fanatic howeve...

Long Distance Move for a Grinder
I am on a large biome world and have explored the surrounding area for several days in all directions. Including long distance portal searching. A swamp is just not turning up and I have have this crazy idea to build a mob grinder that captures slimes, witches and endermen, to include the norms. So ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
"Hey guys, lets ramp up the difficulty of vMC, it is just too easy, quick and boring." "How should we do it? Moderate the players progression and force them to automate/explore?" "Na, we will just add more blocks and spawn a crap ton more buffed mobs!" ..... infinite sa...

Re: How far are you?
Have a good bit of time here and there so in the last month got dragon down and on second beacon. Have several separate automation modules that I need to combine. Overworld mob farm done, aswell as makeshift enderman grinder. Need silverfish and nether grinders. Have wheat and potatoes but carrots r...

Re: 4.66 Spoiler Discussion (SPOILERS...no shit)
Have not had any fortress mobs via the portal however I feel their spawn range is larger. If I had a wither skele or blaze get the jump on me at base I would lock those portals down hard :P

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Oh yes I have the 3 high bars at most intersections, it is this seed! The fortress generation is the most bizarre I have ever seen. Not only is it massive but the ends terminate all over on very thing craggy nether rock so all around I get blaze and wither spawn in the open outside the fortress! It ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Oh yes sneak dismount will be nice. I have had some fun mishaps recently exploring in full SFS out on the ocean ;) Guess I had better join that twitter feed to get scoop on splitting spiders ect. Yes to increase the challenge by nerfing Steve is much better. Returns value to items and mobs that alre...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
For the recent snapshot I was most interested in the following: Changed the idea of mob difficulty Regional difficulty: The longer you spend in one area, the harder it gets Scales with difficulty - Items, enchants or AI improve with difficulty Anyone play around enough with this to notice big change?

Re: Hardcore Modes impacting overall balence
I disagree with your view on iron and tool durability. Once established, iron is in more than sufficient abundance with enchanted speed mining, mob grinding and structure looting (lord I love melting those iron doors back down!) The initial "grind" to establish/return-to your base is the p...

Untill I did my HCH nether work and long distance venture for a village. The diamond is more a mile...

Re: Tech progression and choke points in BTW [SPOILERS]
After a few warm-up runs I could see not needing villagers till late, late game. So, not too bottle-necked here. It almost feels wrong with how I progress however; I am able to have a full set of diamond armor + tools, portal up (uncharted), chickens/pumpkins galore, dogs on standby, and plenty of l...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Would love focus placed on more challenging mid range game modes for vMC. The option is there and would offer a test bed for changes short of world deletion on death. Prior to migrating back to BTW HCS/HCH I had been playing with self imposed rules like "must have an emerald bock in hot bar or ...
