Re: 4.B2 death cycle
I'm not very good at not-dying and keep re-spawning in one of two mega-jungles which happen to be obstacles back to the spawn point. So, I have decided to wage war against the blasted spiders and burn their homeland down! I read on other forum posts the spiders only spawn on leaves so I'm hoping to ...

Question about fishing (spoilers)
Is it possible to 'overfish' a particular area? I have a permanent fishing platform setup by a river which I think meets the volume requirement. In the past it has been a good food source but recently I'm hardly catching anything from this particular location, even with a full moon. Other fishing lo...

4.B2 death cycle
Hi, I've been playing version 4.B2 and seem to be in an infinite death cycle after this sequence of events: Die normally. Get to hungry status. Find out unable to harm anything, therefore can't find a substantial meal. Commit suicide within the same day. Respawn in hungry status. Starve to death due...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)
The new mining mechanics are great. Breaking down stone into multiple chunks of stone and gravel is particularly satisfying. It took a while to realise stone pickaxes are back though; in the meantime I was foolishly trying to mine coal and iron with a stone.

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)
I found a village in the desert! The houses had no windows but did have furnishings. There were crops too (wheat). The villagers were all zombies however, not sure why, and I had to finish them. I hope I made the right decision.

Feedback for early game difficulty curve
I'm really enjoying the new early game challenges since version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH. There are two points however which I think are too challenging: * Brick oven can set things on fire. I found this to be unintuitive (the fire should be contained, right?) * When spawned in a jungle, it's near impossibl...

Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Hints/Help Request (MILD SPOILE
Thanks, I think I figured it out! Unfortunately it takes a very long time to obtain sandstone. I don't think I will be able to continue with my desert settlement :( Mild spoiler: Remove rough edges first. Full spoiler: You have to isolate the block you want from the rest of its kind before extractin...

Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Hints/Help Request (MILD SPOILE
Any hints on how to harvest sandstone? The sand-to-sandstone recipe was removed, sandstone crumbles when mined now, and the chisel doesn't work neither. I'm worried my sandstone desert base is no longer going to progress! Would a better quality tool (for example a diamond or steel pickaxe) do the job?

Re: Lack of progression using sandstone
Well really, it depends on how 'post early game' you are I suppose. Battosay did a great showcase of a sand generator a while back. I get where you're coming from though, sandstone is just a really expensive building block. The cobble blaster is really impressive! For mere sand though it's a hell o...

Lack of progression using sandstone
In the early game, the vMC sand-to-sandstone ratio provides a good challenge for building pathways and settlements in the desert. Post early game, however, it makes building with sandstone 4 times more time-consuming than building with other materials such as cobblestone that don't match the environ...

Re: Why are my chickens dying?
I have had frequent problems with chickens dying when they are on a chunk boundary. Don't know why, never seen it happen but keeping the coop all on one chunk solved my issues. I'll bear that in mind. After tweaking the pen and moving it away from the chunk boundary all seems to be OK. Thanks for y...

Re: Why are my chickens dying?
I find that glass tends to work better then fences for preventing the animal suffocation glitch, due to it being a full block. I'm glad you said that because the fences were just introducing more problems. I'm using wood sidings and glass to cage them in this time and it seems to be working nicely....

Re: Why are my chickens dying?
On the last picture it looks like there is very few space for your chicken. Do they die on chunkload? If so it's possible they are glitching into the walls. That's a good point and I was sandwiching 50 of them into one block... I'll try fencing them in as you suggest. An other possible thing that c...

Why are my chickens dying?
Hi all, As the title suggests, my 50 or so chickens seem to have committed mass suicide and I'm trying to work out why. Until my investment in a infernal enchanter they haven't been a problem. Bearing in mind: - The nearest nether portal is very far away from the pen. - There have been no break-ins ...

Re: Hardcore Modes impacting overall balence
It's limiting to the point I'd rather 'hack in' just a single wheat seed or carrot, just to get one started off, rather than spend 3-4 hours of my life wandering round in the wilderness. What drew/draws me to Better Than Wolves is precisely that ability to build up and automate resource features in...

Re: Powered rails and elevators
Sometimes, especially when lag spikes occur, I unexpectedly 'slip through' any moving platforms I'm travelling on. I haven't played around with platforms as much because of it but I'd say its quite likely that what you're experiencing is due to the same problem. When rails move on the platforms I th...

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.65) [*** NO SPOILERS ***]
I've recently started a new world to play the new release and I must say I'm really enjoying the experience. HCH and HCS have added a new depth of challenge to the game which I think is more than fitting. However, I'm concerned with one aspect. The last few releases have introduced an almost obligat...
