Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8942)
Nice update, and I agree - it pushes some automation elements quite far back. In terms of the "lore", Pistons worked very well with SFS as an ingredient, but realizing how cheap they were in VMC, I miss them as toys and tools alike. These days, I can't even reach Diamonds and Redstone reli...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (week of May 27)
I'm always impressed at how creative and disciplined your additions to the mod are. As game developers go, I'd say you are one of a handfull I genuinely respect, bordering on idolization. Cheers. Thanks for saving Minecraft from Mojang's incompetence, BTW really scratches and (aggravates) that survi...

Re: Benanov's Inhospitable Wasteland (BTW 4.37 / BWR 0.22)
It's difficult, but not hard. Visibility is great and there's no endless mining. I hope we'll get Animals somehow.
The server itself is geared to make the most out of BWR, which is an interesting experience!

Re: Benanov's Inhospitable Wasteland (BTW 4.37 / BWR 0.22)
Ign: thygrrr Interested because: I am a great fan of a server called Arglyx Wasteland / Desert, though I think they pamper their players too much early on with public feeders and free chicken eggs, and they don't have BTW. Thus I am delighted to see this one come up. Looking forward to having to eat...

Re: Anarchy server (whitelist) [BTW 4.3.7]
Yeah, works now - thanks so much! interestingly, in-game, I'm still Thygrrr with a capital T :-)
it's fairly playable, so I'll stick around for a while and see how Anarchy plays out (didn't see anyone online though)

Re: Home - the starting experience.
The experience I really hope to see is the survival one. I want to feel tiny and insignificant at the start. I want to struggle to survive and always be on the edge of starvation and death. I want to fear the world. I want to see certain places or creatures in the world and think "No I can't g...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of November 27th)
I'm favoring a Total Conversion approach (BTW, with its incompatibilite-with-all approach and HC rules, already is pretty much a TC in my book). Or, just as viable, a "Home" dimension that should be accessible to all relatively early from the start (if you put it at the end of the tech tre...

Re: Anarchy server (whitelist) [BTW 4.3.7]
Ok sounds good, but I am at college right now so I will update this post when I can actually whitelist you. It will probably be in 5 hours or so... Edit: Whitelisted Hmm, thanks, but I can't get in. Enough R's? :-) (it could be that my IGN is not capitalized; during login it seems to be capitalized...

Re: Toggleable sprint
Like, http://www.autohotkey.com ... could probably do that. (you need to write a script that sends toggleable state to minecraft or for the OP, a double-tap-hold)

Re: Toggleable sprint
Frankly, you should rather use some keyboard software that can do the double-tap forward for you on another key. That wouldn't require modding your game, but rather, modding your input method, which ought to be fine by pretty much everybody's standards.

Re: Oh Boy! Mojang at it again!
True, though his written English is pretty solid (as is the case with most Scandinavians these days), so it wasn't the vocabulary. :) I'm curious which direction Mojang will go with its portfolio (including Minecraft), I have lots of respect to them for their spirit, but they need to land another mi...

Re: Oh Boy! Mojang at it again!
Indeed a rewrite would probably be a deathblow to most of the mods out there as it would virtually require a rewrite on their side. As far as the modding community is concerned I can't think of anything much worse they could do than a total rewrite. They'd be better off if they just stopped working...

Re: Oh Boy! Mojang at it again!
I personally think Minecraft is not being developed in the right direction (whereas Better than Wolves is quite spot-on where Minecraft ought to have gone). I think their updates will help, but unless their Mod API really opens up the game (i.e. allow extension / reimplementation of every game eleme...

Devoid of Wolves
Since I doubt this is even a bug, I put this in the support forum to get some opinions on it. It's kind of a "I doubt the nature of reality" thing, you know... In my past two standard worlds, one generated at 1.4.5 / BTW4.36 and one at 1.4.5 / BTW4.37, I can't for the love of it find any w...

Re: What are you reading?
Last Graphic Novels: Nordguard (awesome), The Dark Knight Returns Last Fiction Books: Accelerando (awesome), Life of Pi, Idoru (awesome), Snow Crash Last Nonfiction Books: Head First Design Patterns (awesome), The Pragmatic Programmer But I rarely get to read a full book anymore. I'll read two or so...
Re: Timing
Vanilla, especially anarchy play, requires little to no effort to moderate, since stopping grief is almost impossible without bedrock everwhere. Unless you actually plan on trying to create a peaceful anti anarchy community. That is hard. Welcome to the forums! Nah, I am completely in favor of full...

Re: Anarchy server (whitelist) [BTW 4.3.7]
Hi, I'd like to apply for whitelisting. I'm rather new to the forums (no chance to register earlier, but I played BTW and Better Then Wolves since the 2.x days and eventually decided I wanted to wait until SMP is a solid reality). I dig survival anarchy play and am kind of fed up with building my ow...

Re: Overpowered food source (potatoes)
That's what I like about BTW as well - you build with purpose. Aesthetics are an afterthought, form often follows function. I am looking forward to improved food rules, farms and food in general are quite a mess (always were ... ). I think anything you can indefinitely grow after you got a starting ...
Timing
Wow. After playing and lurking for months (actually almost a year, I think) I finally found a moment of open registration :-) Just wanted to say hi and this mod is awesome. No idea if I can gather enough credibility to even apply for the official server (it's got awesome latency for me, and I dig tr...
