Whenever I shut the server down after feeding the chicken, the following morning there's no egg.
If it's relevant, I believe the chicken in question is on a spawn chunk.
Chickens don't lay eggs if server is shut down at night.

I just did a quick check of the related code and everything seems in order. If someone else can verify this before I look into it further I'd be much obliged.

Chickens laying eggs on the server's I've played on we're functioning very well. If no one is logged in, time goes on. If the next morning has passed while no one is online all chickens that have been fed will lay their egg the moment someone logs in. Even if thats a real life day later or something. So in short: They work fine.
