Squids greatest weakness is waist high water

While it's saved my life a couple times it feels odd that the best way to counter squids if you're out in a boat is to find the closest small island and spend the night standing in a 1 high block of water.

What kind of behavior do you see them exhibiting? Are they not coming near? Are they not really forcibly pulling you out to sea before having a midnight snack? Or are you finding they latch onto you and since you're in a block of water they aren't able to drown you? (are they just latching onto you rather than flinging you around like a cat does with a mouse?

If you're in the water, squids won't launch you, and since you're in 1 block of water you can't drown. I as well have found that if I see squids coming after me and I can't get away that if I run *into* the water, I often have the highest survival rate.

If your in 1 block of water, they both won't launch you, and can't reach your head to start damaging you. Doing this out in the ocean on a small island leaves you looking like the squid whisperer by morning. I imagine it could be used for impromptu ink and gland farming as well.
