Deforesting with fire.

So i have an extreme dislike of jungles and my base is right next to one. I've been debating on burning it down but i wanted some advice.

Has anyone else cleared out large sections of forest with fire and what are it's pros and cons?

With the new fire changes what should i expect? (Use spoilers)

Plus is there a good way to clear out floating tops of trees after?

Really looking forward to burning it down and i hope to hear your feedback!

I'm not sure if you want game elements spoiled.

Actual fire spread is the same as far as I know.

So I will say this cryptic bit.

Using the earliest fire, you can make and fuel them to inferno quickly/cheaply. You can place a ton on the perimeter or cut floor trails, light them in rapid succession and get better results than flint-n-steel.

The tree tops are still an issue..

To add to Taleric, you can use a slightly later item for portable fire.

Very early game, a campfire will set things on fire, and you actually don't need it to be at its highest level to do that (source: I died once because of that). Later on, crude torches will spread fire to wood around it, and so you can keep picking up and moving a single torch.

Not sure about tree tops.

as long as fire spread mechanics are still the same (haven't tried BTW since the revamp), burning a jungle will clear out the leafy floor but half-burn the tall trees. not recommended unless you're willing to nerdpole up and clean the resulting mess. I tried it once. I regret many things.
