The BTW Stoner Challenge

Here's a fun little challenge build that's also quite useful:

In BTW survival, create a room that has three double chests (not any other container).

The first chest is full of cobblestone
The second chest is full of stone
The third chest is full of mossy cobblestone

All three chests automatically refill indefinitely.

The build you need to fulfill this challenge requires post-end tech and is quite large. Discuss how you'd do it, show some designs, etc. Who will be the first to post the finished project? :)

Use spoilers if you feel what you're posting might ruin the fun of others. It's not immediately clear to many people how to solve this puzzle :). Especially the part where you figure out how to collect cobble into a regular chest might be something people want to try to figure out themselves.

Brief thought/question on stone production:
Spoiler
Show
I thought you could produce stone with only a block dispenser or cement bucket. Cement bucket wouldn't be fully automated indefinitely. And I thought Flowerchild changed block dispensers so they didn't drop inventories for the express purpose of stopping the free automated production of stone. Is there is some third way I don't know about?

You can cook cobble into stone using a crucible.
Question

Is infinite really possible? iirc mining charges require netherrack, which needs manual gathering.

Ethinolicbob has the solution right there! Big spoiler if you want to figure it out yourself :)

Oh wow. I never thought of that :)

It's actually quite a fun build to do, someone on the IRC showed it to me. I think there's people using withers to collect all sorts of stuff. I've seen someone use withers to collect bloodwood logs for example. God knows why you need the logs, but that's what he was doing :)

The point most of the time for us was to get all the kinds of blocks available in the storeroom for aesthetic builds, and to move a lot of them automatically after whatever processes needed to make them usually required said process. Of course it wasn't full proof as a lot of the time when you re logged on you would have to rebuild the crucial element in the build

For those of you without access to late game automation/resources, a record farm(easily added on to any standard mob trap as long as you can figure out sorting) could be converted to make creepers blow themselves up and collect cobble in that fashion. I was halfway done with this before the previous spoiler was posted TT_TT

Oooooh, Rianaru, that's really interesting, I'd love to see that in action.

it was made in vanilla Mc by some team long ago.

"three double chests (not any other container)"

So that's a no :p

Any chance I could get a look at the design? Really curious to know if I can maaaaybe hack something together pre-end.

Sorry for the response lag, I went out of country for a while. Further testing reveals that explosions are slightly bigger than i thought and i don't have the resources for as many pistons and redstone as are needed to refill the stone cube. remains theoretically possible, but just a theory :(

I feel kinda bad for ''necroing'' this but i found it interesting since smooth stone farming was one of my first tests with screw pumps years ago...
I wont spoil the challenge since im bringing this up again.

To someone who is interested in the result:
Spoiler

And i came up with a design that most likely can be updated but checks all the rules of the challenge.
It uses:
3 lava sources (You can divide a lava fall or find a surface lava lake)
1 water source (Just bring up the water however you can to but i think the usage of pumps its mandatory

It resulted in 5 farm able spots of smooth stone that with the help of block dispensers and a turntable made it so i can have 5 non-stop smooth stone farms that are safe to use and can fit in a somewhat small space.

I have a map of it in creative mode so i dont have this made in a survival map but still found it could relevant for someone
Edit:

Newer design made by me made this obsolete so just keep scrolling

block dispenser don't drop inventory sor it's not possible to use that, you must find other way to put stuff inside a chest !

I don't try but maybe with a wither boss or if you find a way with creeper !

i guess i misunderstood the challenge. i thought i had 3 types of stone to build a smooth stone factory.

I think i will count my smooth stone factory as completed because the amount of inventory space the 5 BD have are significant enough since its renewable quite fast.

I also have a cobblestone factory but was manual ill try to adapt it.

And also have some ideas about mossy.

So i made a few more tests found out a few things:

In order to fulfill Gil's challenge you will need:
Spoiler
Show
A lava and water source nearby and a mob spawner
A wither to destroy blocks (Apparently they dont destroy SFS blocks)
A piston machinery to work with the cobble to that it is visible to the wither.
A target mob so the wither does not loose focus during work and targets only the area of interest.
A item recovery system to get it sorted into the 3 chests into one room
I made a contraption that gets all Gil wants but ignored some of the rules... (almost all)
If you are interested:
Spoiler
Show
So got everything on one room. But i used no chests nor wither... I though that if the stone its going to be infinite why bother with chests? And having a ''loose'' wither around gets me nervous. So i used BD as storage.
The inside room with all wiring hidden

That's a pretty cool machine TSA :)

I'm just wondering how feasible it is with that high up lava source. Well-placed lava lake maybe? Underneath a village blacksmith? Cool design anyways :)

How are people filling the chests without hoppers?

I mean technically you could have chest minecarts, and fill them externally, but that feels against the spirit of the challenge.
