So i been trying to figure out how the pile of soul sand thing works in the nether to find a fortress and im confused on how its suppose to work, i right click and i see the particles but they stay in one place which means that there isnt a fortress nearby but what does it look like when it moves? do they slowly move in the direction or does it just quickly move? thank you for any help

It's not a swift or obvious movement. I.e. They don't quickly blast off to the horizon when there's a fortress nearby, it's fairly subtle. Best way to do it is to take a step back after you use it to see it a bit more clearly. Having someone else watch is good too.

Going into third person and looking down also helps a lot
