Wh.... Wh... How?

I've only been here at night, so it is SO possible that it just has a view of the sun, but... I see a spawner or something across the darkness? Anyone seen anything like this?

Edit: This is 2nd strata, in an abandoned mineshaft. Found it like 10 minutes ago.

Its probably a surface ravine/pit intersecting the mineshaft- looks like it lines up with a regular cave on the other side too. Chances are this is normal generation- MC does some fairly cool stuff when things line up.
