Show us your pretty bridges :D

Post by grimper12341 »

So has anyone got any nice bridges they have built in their world they can show pics of? I'm looking to spruce up some of mine because my architectural skills are well...lacking.

In particular I'm looking for small rail bridges built with corners and moulding and panels and stuff, but any will do for some inspiration :D (and a chance for you guys to show off ;))

These are the ones I've been building in my world:

Here's an older video of one of my bridge designs. Didn't make it with Better Than Wolves, but I think it looks great with the materials and texture pack.

Did you check out Battosay's video corner? He's got an amazing bridge in there.viewtopic.php?f=3&t=53
PS: I know it's probably not the kind of bridge you want to build but stil a good inspirational source. ;)

Yeh it's gargamel lol.

All the autumn colours and stuff are from the Seasons Mod though, it adds a ton of atmosphere to the game.

I did a bit of teraforming tho, such as making that smaller lake nice and smooth, adding a stream to the bottom of each waterfall, adding cave mouths for the waterfalls to come out of, and planting some pines.

well ok my recommendation to you to maybe inprove would be to make something like this

.

Adding some curves to your bridges might make it look a bit more realistic...

On a side note: Can you please tell us your seed and general location of that valley aka coordinates.

Yeh but the thing is detailed curves and supports like that do not work on a scale this small, which is why I'm looking for small ingame examples.

And the seed is "gargamel" minus the quotes ofc. You always spawn in the exact same spot, which is inside a cave that leads out into the valley.

and im back...

try something a little more rustic.. so get some smoothstone pannels, wooden ones and some gravel(just to give it a use).

cut section view:
1 0 1
I M I
0 - 0

top view

IMI

side view
111111
IIIIIIIIII
--------

where M is gravel
I is wood pannels
1 is fences
and - is stone pannels
0 is air

That way it looks like a sturdy rail bridge.

You can use that design for a lot of them and change it up add/remove the fences add a roof overtop or something...

How's about a bridge like this? I'm sure you could spruce it up along the middle with moulding and run a track along the center (it's 5 wide so place moulding on the blocks around the center row).

Disregard the fact that it's not connected to anything, haha, I whipped it up rather quickly as an example.

Nevermind, I was bored so decided to do what I suggested so you could just see it without having to go through the trouble of building it.

I dunno if I WOULD change them. They're pretty snazzy as-is.

Though adding a roof to one of them using mouldings as the roof support could be cool.

Just a quick mock-up since the original bridges got destroyed along with the rest of my old main save. This one is starting over with the new tech tree revision. They do look much better when the railbed is three meters wide to accommodate a two way system. In that case there would be two sets of fence supports separated by a meter of air.

Nah my mush farm and this bridge is all just my test world. I'm still waiting for 1.8 and BTW being compatible with it to start a legit world.
