Here's mine:
Upon the release of cut leather, I thought to get it you used shears on a cow.
Cue me spending five minutes chasing a cow around trying to kill it with shears.

And think of the horror you would have unleashed had you been successful....

While I am all for Steve's descent into corruption and madness, such a drastic leap forward would totally mess up the progression ;)

Flowerchild has such sights to show you. Your suffering will be legendary, even in Nether.

Man,I have tin box, collectors editions, of that movie plus a whole bunch of other rare stuff and a singed comic by Doug Bradley himself.

My misconception, from since always and is still something I struggle with is the nether. For me it's go in and gtf out, rarely to return. Netherack... just dig a hole and farm where it's safe. It's something that needs to be overcome as it's an important part.

I thought I'd just make a little mod made up of six blocks over the course of a couple of weeks and then get on with my life.

I thought the domestication of cute little puppies was as easy as giving a wolf a bone and not thousands of years of selective breeding to root out feral instincts and the urge to feast on human flesh.

The first time I got hit with a Ghast fireball post-HC Hell, I thought they poisoned you. Turns out it was some nearby nether groth that did it.

First time I used a millstone, I saw the "grinding completion" icon in the gui, showing a half-blank gear. I assumed this indicated that the millstone was wearing out it's wooden gear, so I spent the rest of the play session making more gears and trying to "install" them into the millstone to "repair it."

I thought broken unpowered soulsand hoppers spawned evil imps of rapid doom, with silverfish speed.

I also thought BTW was just a really cool tech mod. Technically, that was somewhat true. Then HC Everything came out.

If I can bump this old and somewhat deceased thread, I misread the wiki a while back and thought I had found an obvious yet unfixed glitch in the gearbox mechanics...
In reading the wiki page for wind mills I noticed that
"The player can prevent this* by applying redstone power to the Gearbox by using a lever.
*referring to the gearbox being destroyed by weather
In my infinite intelligence, I decided I was going to set up a windmill in the plains where my base was and just apply a continuous redstone signal to the first gearbox. You can imagine my frustration in the proceeding hour[s...] when I grew increasingly flustered trying to figure out why my windmill wouldn't work!
