The Stanley Parable

Post by Sockthing »

Hey guys,
wanted to show you guys a mod for HL2. Well it works on the HL2 engine.
Anyway, you can download it here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-stanley-parable
You only need Source SDK, for it to work. No need for the actual game of HL2.

Try and go play it without any knowledge, much more fun like this. Also maybe record it?
I hope you like it!

I played the original mod. It's very entertaining. It's not much of a game, but it's definitely funny and thought-provoking, and only takes a few minutes to get through.

I just downloaded it and gave it a go.

It cannot be reviewed in the sense of a normal game, nor can it be really described well.

All i can say is give it a go, it brings up some brilliant ideas into the psychology of playing games and some very thought provoking observations of life.
Why not? Because it would have made sense!

But of course, the message of the game only becomes clear once you've been playing it for about four hours.

I wouldn't say it's a story driven game, fwiw. It kind of takes the piss out of the whole concept of story driven games and all the marketing bullshit that surrounds them (meaningful choices and so on).

Also, there is one path which should be of extreme interest to anyone on this forum, which I will not say anything further about.
