Youtube Issue Survey

Post by HavokSCOUT »

Recently, I've been experiencing problems with loading youtube videos, such as they won't load or load in very slow bits. I polled a few students in my school of which ISP they had and if they were having youtube problems, and the overwhelming answer was that Verizon FiOS users were having the same issue, while Comcast members were not, but I want to get a better sample than my Computer Science class. If you could post your country, ISP (Internet Service Provider), and whether you are having youtube issues, I would be eternally grateful :)

Minor issues with loading, such as videos loading to a point, or having only a fraction of a video load (Ex. 19 min. video and youtube claims it's only 1.5 min. and ends after that).

Same issues with YouTube. Very slow loading times on most videos -- others load fine. It doesn't seem random, because I'm getting consistent load times on the very same videos hours later.

Those of you having trouble with youtube and are on FiOS, try loading through vpn. From what I hear, that makes it run quicker, for some reason

Isn't the problems with YouTube (and a LOT of other sites) a direct result of that internet DNS war going on right now with some webserver company and some self-appointed internet regulations group?

Pittsburgh PA, United States
Verizon FIOS

I have been experiencing random problems with Youtube video. Videos load OK, but will frequently just stop randomly during playback. Not buffering or pausing, the video just stops until some random time period passes or I hit the pause/play button a few times, or I jigger the forward/reverse slider. I've noticed that the videos actually play more reliably if I play them at 720, rather than the lower resolution. Shoulder Status = shrugged.
