Riveter's BTW re-texture requests

Post by Riveter »

I realized I spend almost as long re-texturing minecraft as I do playing, so I thought I'd offer to do some BTW re-textures. So far they have all been 32x,
so the ones I'm going to post will be that size, but feel free to ask for other sizes as well.

Everything I post will be my work, not copy-pasted from another pack.

Edit: All of the work I've done on this has lead to the development of a full texture pack! Thread in the off-topic section:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=703&p=8730#p8730

I use a clean design, but I'd be happy to see what I can do with other styles.
Everyone should all know how to add 32x textures packs by now, so I won't get into that.
Just drop these into the btwmodtex folder and you're set.

So far:

Next to come:
Hibachi
Detector block

Edit: The Steam punk textures used in the pics are what I'm using for place-holders until I get mine made. I will not post those.

Hmm, It'll be good to see some more texture packs supporting BTW - don't get me wrong, John smiths is great and all, but the normal stone texture irritates the hell out of me :|. Plus it's good to have a change now and then.

So far those two are looking alright. Keep at it!

Thanks for the encouragement! I realize that having the BTW blocks borrow from the terrain.png means I'll have to match the bits of wood and whatnot to that. I'll post the wood texture I'm working on to give people the option to paste that into their terrain.png. I'll also post the chests/workbench so you don't have odd wood textures from three different packs.

The wood borrowing textures are coming along nicely. I really like the brightness the wood has now. I think that will be an ongoing theme here, brighter textures in general.

Once I get all of the textures done I'll compile them all into one pack. For now I'll continue to post them here as it may be awhile between updates.

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on this:

I added a copper plate to the top of my crafting table, do you think it fits? There is no copper in the game, but I like the colors. I may change it to bronze. Still need to add detail to the side.

Good luck with this, they look very nice.

I was thinking of working on a 16x one because my computer is not the best, and I dislike how the pack I use has some wood textures still the default.

hey this is awesome.. I am currently using a mix of johnsmith and faithful 32x as I HATE johnsmiths stone but the amount of btw content is limited so I have to make do.

I like the look of the copper top but it doesn't really fit as we have no copper.

BTW, did you know that minecraft customizer now supports BTW?
It's FC mod, he just lets us play it.

I added the JohnSmith textures there but it seems like the site is not really up to date so I couldn't upload several textures that have been added recently.

the biggest problem I have is I can filter via packs that support X mod.

The closest I have come up with is to search for the BTW texture files and then write down the names of the pack that I like.

Re-worked the base wood file to a cleaner look. Updating all the textures now. The pack is turning into a wrought iron over blonde pine. I'm really liking how this is coming. I don't want to upload them to the customizer until I get them 100% done.

I realize the recipe for the detector is stone, but having it use the wood texture will allow it to fit with most texture packs for now. Ill release a stone version once I get a stone texture made that I like. I still need to make the back and sides as they borrow the terrain.png. This is my first attempt at making a jewel/shiny texture, and it turned out rather well.

That wood texture looks amazing on the water and wind mills, going to have to use these. Are you just doing 32px or will you consider doing a larger version as well?

I currently use 128px Default Ex Hi/Lo texture pack which adds nice details to the vanilla textures, but I may have to change if you do a 128px version.

So euh, Riveter, you're going to collect these into 1 texture pack right?

After I get all of the BTW stuff done I'll combine them into a folder and post it online. As for a full game-wide texture pack, that could be awhile. If you want I can post the terrain.png after it's done.

I'll throw all the rejected design ideas into an extras .png like Glimmar did with his. I'm really having fun with this, trying to tie all these different elements together without making them too uniform is a challenge.

That's a beautiful light block. When you get to the terrain.png, will the glowstone and/or glass have a similar design?

I'm messing around with that right now. Since the block is basically dust mashed together I'm thinking it should be more stone like.
I'm sure I'll end up with a bunch of designs, I'll add them all to the extras pack.

I'm still kinda iffy on the post behind the switches. I tried to make it look like an axle. the gems line up with the switch.

I'm working on the terrain.png more than I expected to. The BTW stuff uses more references than I remember. I wanted to get peoples opinions on the stone/cobble texture I came up with, as I'll have to match quite a few textures to it. it's a basic noise texture like Glimmar uses, I like the clean look of it. I'm not sure what tint will work with the color scheme I've got going.
There's also a look as some of the ideas I have for the doors/windows.
