Difficulty powering the Hibachi

Post by Luciferous Leo »

Image

One set of wire is running under, one is running next to , and one is just touching the hibachi.

If i remove the side wires the one touching the hibachi at the same level works, but I was sure that all 3 of these ways should work.
Could anyone help me out here?

Power underneath the Hibachi, with redstone torches; much easier. :)

Or levers, if you don't mind having a crawlspace / don't need to centralize fire control :)

I want to be able to turn them off easily with just one button to press (or a timer/detector) rather than constantly on or off
(planning on eventually having a flame based trap like you would see in classic 3D platformers)

Underneath never works with redstone dust. If the dust block is on the same level as the hibachi block, the dust must be pointing into the hibachi. If the dust block is a level above the hibachi, so that it's on the same level as the fire, it doesn't have to be pointing at the hibachi.
H is Hibachi, R is Redstone, B is another block.

H
R

Hibachi is not powered.

R
BH

Hibachi is powered, no matter what direction the redstone is facing.

RH
B

Hibachi is powered only if the redstone is pointing into the hibachi.

So shouldn't the first hibachi be powered in the picture here? (I have a feeling the direction does matter for this one again, because it was powered when the wire was facing the hibachi.

Bugger. You're right. I have no idea why I thought that worked. Just ignore me, please.

Methinks there should be links to the various hibachi powering threads here on the wiki page. Maybe copy some of the screenshots across too, and put them on the page. Maybe I could do this...
Does anyone know how I would go about editing the wiki?
All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.

Changed the wiki a bit, also you could have a look at this: http://imgur.com/a/cuUGM#0

It is a tile-able way to power any blocks in a 3X_*_ formation.
