Maps not showing player icon when in a boat

With the 4.21 update maps dont seem to be showing the players icon when in boats. Although i haven't had a chance to check if they are still able to draw when riding in the boat.

FC from 4.21 change log wrote:-Changed maps so that they won't display your location, or draw in new terrain, while you are underground or inside (you have to have open sky above you).

Think this could be happening?

The location-pointer not working beneath leaves and while swimming has been discussed on the MCF forums and FC mentioned looking into it. I'd imagine boating counts as an exception as well.
