FC has been at it again churning out updates...

What can we learn about the new Ender Spectacles?

Lifeiwater found out that poisonish bubbles appear randomly in the overworld and in the nether.
Ideas?

Quite simple. The squigglies appear wherever mobs can spawn.

S'true. Try placing some torches in dark areas that are swirly and see what happens.

However, this is FC. I wouldn't assume that's ALL they do. I want to try looking at an actual enderman while wearing them. I also want to look at some end portals.

Yep its true, i've been using them to find any problem areas around my village/base. It's always those one or two blocks that are just too far away from a torch that cause the issues =P.

Looking around the village though there are so many ugly torches i've got find to a better way of lighting this place.

When I went to the End, at least, Endermen still got mad and attacked you. (haven't tried elsewhere) Endermen themselves didn't seem to look any different through the goggles.

Also, as they are an armor piece, the goggles will be damaged when you get hurt, and they have a VERY low durability.

That's the problem, Installing Optifine along with BTW disables all particles. :(

Brilliant. I now need to skin it as a Monocle. I don't care it takes 2 lenses. I think it fits such a classy device.

Seriously though, really helping me light up my walled in "town" without throwing lighting around with wild abandon.

Does it? There is a particles setting in vMC and Optifine that lets you modify it, that might be set to None.

They are Hella enchantable: I just droped 6 levels into one and got aqua affinity 1, respiration 1, and projectile protection 2. This is in the world where I have an underwater base, too, which made me hella happy.

It seems that spectacles can get false positives: When lighting up a room they will detect if the floor is at or below light level seven even if the block above is 8 or higher.

They cannot detect slime spawnable areas.

EDIT:
Forgot: Spectacles also do not react to original spawn nor to active end portals.

these goggles are definitely not for spelunking. with the filter they put over your view, i fell through several holes in caves that i was already familiar with, i almost never fall through those 1X1 holes. :/

They're tons of fun to play around with though, and i feel like i have a better understanding of the lighting system now.

Spectacles cannot be resmelted in a crucible.

I need to fix that one actually. It just slipped my mind before releasing last night to put in the Crucible recipes.

So hang onto your damaged spectacles ;)

You very sure about that man? The spectacles use what is basically a copy/paste of the mob spawning code to determine what they see. To my knowledge, mobs only check the light-level of the block they spawn on (as in, at their feet), not the one above.

If there is indeed an issue, I will of course fix it, but I think you may be misinterpreting how mob-spawning works.

Is there some special way to activate the eyewear, mine does not seem to wanna work. I even enchanted it...


Edit: Nevermind, figured out it was a mod conflict with Rei's Minimap. Have to load BTW over it to get the spectacules to work right.

I am happy now.

"activate"? It's on once you put it on your head.
If you have your particles disabled you won't see the effect, though.
