Doing a quick stream to test some of the frame rate improvements with 1.4.2. If it seems to go well, it may become a regular thing.

EDIT: Streaming seems to work better than it did previously. However, I want to make some adjustments, and maybe see if there may be a way to further improve performance. If everything goes as planned, streams may become a regular thing.

Hey guys, just wanted to post a quick update, and apologize for the lack in content, lately. I hope to get episode 7 recorded in the near future. In the meantime, however, I thought I might go ahead and leave some teaser material.

Gee, what could that curious-looking light be? :P

Expanded farming options makes Drew a happy person.

Very happy, indeed.
On a slightly-serious note. I'm considering my current PC, and how outdated it is, and find myself longing for something slightly more powerful. I already have a spare computer sitting around, that would serve as a nice temporary replacement, with a few parts. Estimated cost to get it running would be about $100, which includes a new motherboard, and some RAM. Given my current situation, finding that much extra money would be difficult. Which leads to the following question:

@FC - Would you have any qualms about me using this thread to run a temporary donation drive to acquire the funds I need? I ask, because this is your forum, after all, and I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes.

If a Former Turtle, or otherwise, could provide me an answer, or forward me to someone who can, I'd appreciate it.

For reference, here is my current system, and the potential upgrade:
Spoiler
Show
Current:
Intel Pentium 4 2.6GHz w/ HyperThreading
2GB DDR 400 RAM
GeForce 6200 w/ 512MB VRAM

Upgrade:
AMD Athlon X2 2.2GHz Dual-Core
4GB DDR 400 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4350 w/ 1GB VRAM

I have all the parts, aside from the 4GB of RAM, and the motherboard has several bulged capacitors, which cause the entire system to hard shut down at random. I've priced the replacement board at roughly $50 USD, plus another $50 for the RAM.
EDIT: Actually, never mind. I think I might have solved this. If anyone is curious, just find me in IRC.

Quick bump to let everyone know that I will be doing a stream in about 30 minutes. Stress-testing the new equipment, and otherwise putzing around. :)

EDIT: Stream went off with only a few minor hiccups.

Question 1: Does anyone know of a good streaming application? I've tried XSplit, but it's so bloated I couldn't justify spending $15 for 3 months. I used FFSplit for this most recent stream, but it's prone to crashing, and doesn't quite have as much flexibility. I'm also aware of DXtory and Flash Media Encoder, but don't know if I have the patience to set them up. I'll consider it, but if anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

Question 2: What is with the audio stuttering? I determined that part of the issue was due to bad sound drivers, but Minecraft still likes to get into those "I'm going to rape your ear-drums" kind of moods. I've researched it, and I think it's the OpenAL file that Mojang distributes being outdated (go figure). I'll do some more poking.
