soul urn creation problem

Heya, i'm pestering you all with another problem.
I know the soul urn creation has changed, at least it seems to on my end.
It worked fine, updated, now it destroys the hopper every time.
I have urn under the hopper, let 8 ground netherrack fall into the hopper, poof, the soul urn breaks.
it has soul sand filter,
i've tried it the old way with the urn in the hopper and it does nothing.
I have no idea how everyone is automating this.
I search and find that all the answers are telling me to do what i'm already doing, so i'm not sure if i've
done something wrong or if its the old way of doing it...
any suggestions?
i'd take a screen shot, but with everything else in the way, i dont' think the screen shot will show anything.

Is the hopper powered?

Make sure that the hopper is receiving mechanical power.

@(%&@)$@)^ it was powered, an axle got turned so it wasn't anymore LmAo
