I checked climate tables for some Scandi cities; in the wettest capital in the wettest month (Oslo, September), it usually rains 9cm through the whole month. With the natural drainage of the soil, this means flooding is the least concern, at most they would have a damp "floor" - not a big deal if you're a Viking living/working in a hut.
By the way, nice house, Mud (Mud house?). It looks like a good style for those who want to build both above and underground.

Interesting... But yeah, in the context of MC, where underground bases are so common, this works really well, and it looks awesome

Has anyone here been able to design a compact 9-hibachi auto-kiln? Forum search didn't turn up an obvious answer, and the only one I found was a 30 minute video of a giant device that requires a water source. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make it smaller than 9x7x7.
This is the best I can do after around 30 mins of messing around in creative. I'm not sure how you can make it smaller without a water source...

I can see a few things to help reduce the size.
Though my first point would be to recommend tinkering in your survival world;
I find playing around and climbing into the build helps me think things through it a little easier.
It almost becomes a form of meditation sometimes.
As for your design;
turntables can rotate two blocks
block dispensers count
don't forget to show off your crucible collection
some of those gearboxes seem excessive
I think you can get this down to a 7x5x6 [or an 8x3x7??] build.
Right now you're at 10x8x7 ;)

Mine is 5x6 and 5m high. I will post picture if you're interested (I would have to find this specific save file)

Search, THIS thread, SUBJECT kiln, author SIX, and youll find a tots, of three pictures of one that is awesome. Don't ask questions, just build it as per the pictures and learn layer.
Six rocks! Not Five nor seven rocks! When thoust get to four, thou shalt count two more, not one nor three more. These are the circuits of our lord.

actually that's the second gold beacon. tomorrow would be full.
about 4-5 days of mining with the help of 3 full beacons above ground for safety ( hellfire, glowstone and gold).

Neat! Is that wheat farm irrigated? Also, what item in the Conquest TP makes the fur rug?

Can you do interior design for my life?

It's a biome specific Vine trap texture in taiga and extreme hills, I think.

some more buildings from my world. finally i got around a cleaned the spawn area as returning from The End was a bit hard.
a barn looking thing that i think that i'll remake into a 3 way railstation
and another building as a some kind of a mining house still WIP. i need to wait the trees to grow and add some more things around and finish the interior.
i think that i'm done with this cold biome and maybe next go into the forest.

finished my iron smelting place today. channeled some lava from a lava lake near the surface and blasted the hole with mining charges, i made a minecart loader and unloader to move the iron into the furnace for smelting. i'll add some fluff around and some cracked brick stone automated machines. until then iìll post the first pics:
next i'll try an automated sand generator. i think that i badly need one for some big scale projects where i'll need glass and big amounts of sandstone and i can't be bothered to mine those.
EDIT: and i just finished a working gravel-sand machinery. 24 gravel or sand blocks per cycle is good enough for me. now i need to make more dynamite

what does that gravel-sand thing do exactly?

turns cobble into gravel, then gravel into sand(and produces flint in the process).

Ralphkastro is right. i did it mostly because it's easier to make dynamite, that to mine sand or sandstone. for every 3 netherack blocks mined, i get 48 blocks of gravel or sand. flint is unwanted as i get enormous amounts from the mob trap.
chamber is finished with roof and floor and also a setup for gravel or sand, i'll remove the flint hopper later (still unsure) and connect some rails here
i'm burned right now!

Ah right, I didn't realise dynamite destroyed cobblestone!

sorry Mesh, as i wasn't really understood. the mining charges are used, not dynamite.
something new:
a 3 level slime trap. two level for spawning and one for killing, all in one chunk

My astronomy tower; comes with a free windmill. It sprouted a pair of wings when I added a rain detector.
The Teapot- automatic clay turner/recycler. Ever a time to over engineer things; this was a lot of fun to design.
Bloodwood farm, mostly experimenting with different building materials. There was this interesting moment when Sand [left] grew sideways into Whitestone, climbed up and wrapped around into Clay [right].
Could you help me out with some suggestions for rope? I'm stuck for ideas at the moment.
Started upgrading the main road into my base. Its about half a days walk in total.

Hey guys! I started playing again. (I might start back up on the deco mod again too) I took a long time off, but I am back playing in our old world.
Some of this stuff isn't finished, but it's getting there.
Our fortress, the glorious monument to our colonization and desecration of this land, or the good side of it at least...
we are putting a beacon on each corner. One of each: Hellfire(almost done), Lapis(almost almost done), emerald(not even close), and we are still trying to pick the last one.
The Capitol, the centerpiece of our fortress.
There are holes like this all over our base, I have a friend who
really likes mining. Sometimes I will be landscaping, and I will dig up one of them that's been covered up, it's a good laugh.
Giant mob trap I am working on.
Library in Progress.
Hell-fire beacon that's
sooo close to done.
Filthy peasant housing
And this ass-hole

Now that I've built it, all that I do in my world is sit and watch it do its thing.

Alright, spill it, how did you build that?
