I also have a free standing design that's less busy but it's a much lower angle of ascent so it takes up more space horizontally.

I usually either put pillar supports under it in a fairly wide spacing but you could also flare out the sides at the anchor points and do a rope and anchor suspension with this one as well.

You could also let the ropes hit a generic block instead of anchors. Upside down smoothstone brick stairs could look a lot like steel brackets for this purpose.

Those are really awesome, and If I go back to my Scandinavian mod world I'll definately use that for inspiration.

I reckon that could look really nice if you did it in a free-standing spiral.

How old is he? It's plain because of just stone, but its rather architecturally sound looking. Count me impressed too!

He's 18, on Spring Break and stayed up all night creating that.

He's going to school for a BS in Video Game Design.

I agree, but that's bigger than some of the permanent bases I make!

I've added a bunch of stuff recently to my castaway world. Instead of pics, I'm just giving you the world download.

Warning, you will require the Zeppelin Mod. Well, I think if you don't have it, all that will happen will be that the ship won't move.
Also, I run with the smartmove mod, but I try to make sure that everwhere is accessible with vanilla movement.

That is the most well hidden download button I've seen on a file sharing site to date. Very nice world, even without the extra mods.

I never thought of using vines that way to mob proof my entrances, either.

I just thought about the most compact way to make a bellow timer, right?

It's 5 blocks high, 4 blocks long and 1 block wide (although you need an extra space for the redstone torch, so it's 1.1 blocks wide).

God I hate that. Now I regret making it so attached axles don't break when a Gear Box is rotated on a Turntable :\

I actually thought they do break, and then I remembered that I used this to make backup sources for windmills - if it's raining, the GB would just spin and take power from the waterwheel. Which will be powered by a waterfall - as if the rain itself provided the water.

Yeah, I hate it. I regret letting Battosay talk me into that one :\

The exact same system would work if the turntable was moved one block closer to the bellows, and the redstone dot moved to the other side though; then the torch is doing pretty much the same thing as rotating the gearbox is, and in the same space.

I agree with reverting the gearbox rotation thing, but in this context it doesn't really hamper anything.

I've had several btw worlds, and previously the furthest automated world I had was a sawmill. Well I finally quit derping around and pushed myself last night. I have now automated pottery (with selectable types), kiln, and soul urn bottling. Timing is all controlled by turntables and bd roms rather than buddys or detectors. This was all my own design I didn't copy from others. Not using buddys or detectors lets me do a sort of master reset by simplying turning off mechanical power to everything so I can alter the designs or fix something. It's absolutely not the most compact design and is a mechanical monstrosity but it's my design.
Next step is to spend a large amount of time in the nether getting the souls to bottle the more than 500 fired urns I have...

This was how I designed my very first bellows timer, however, no matter what speed I set the turntable to, I could not keep the fire stoked, so it was completely non-functional.

I've never had an issue with turntable set on "2" turning two rs torches on opposite sides of a block.
