New Release! (BTW V3.40)

Version 3.40 Of Better Than Wolves is ready for download!

This release contains the following changes:

-Added the Blood Wood Sapling as a new block type.

-Added Blood Wood as a new block type.

-Added Blood Leaves as a new block type.

-Added Soul Dust as a new item type.

-Added ability to burn Saw Dust as a furnace fuel.

-Added ability to cut wood slabs into Moulding using the Saw.

-Changed the Vine Trap block to be named "Aesthetic Vegetation" both internally and in the config file, since it is now sharing a block ID with Blood Leaves and Blood Wood Saplings. NOTE: If you changed the value of the block ID on Vine Trap blocks in the previous release, make sure to update the names in your config file before loading an old world!

-Fixed problem where items ejected from destroyed mod blocks with inventories, would lose their enchantments.

Thanks for the update! Does it require us to load new chunks or are blood wood something we can manufacture in some way?

And I bet any mob in a blood wood forest turns inexplicably hostile for 3 to 5 days every month :p

I'm pretty sure there wouldnt be any world-gen modification (precedence).

Oddly, the thought hadn't even occurred to me the entire time I was working on it. I must be slipping :)

Although, I was just thinking this may have been yet another reason for your warning earlier today to Stormweaver about wearing armor.

You're just a bit overworked :)

You always need to be prepared, I'm just not sure if he should go with blast protection or projectile protection, both have their uses but it depends on the circumstances I guess.

Awesome, I give it a quick try now
and then start playing for real in the afternoon.
Since I have some bigger issues right now.
O well, at least I have something to look forward to.

Dear GOD the blood wood looks horrid. Nicely done FC :) Now... If I could just harness some zombie pig men and get them to start breeding my reenactment of Hell Raiser will be complete!

I'm a BIG fan of the Hellraiser films (well, the first 2 and parts of the 4th anyways), and particularly of the background mythos, so I'll take any comparison as a compliment.

I was actually tempted to make the breeding-harness involve chains and hooks, but decided the development effort wouldn't have been worth the end result ;)

Already planned on playing when I got home, my 2 year old is looking forward to me playing "Fight Monsters" (his name for Minecraft). Now all the more reason. I am excited to see what these Blood trees are...

A new update!

And here I was thinking I could get a day off fromt exturing, to play some proper Street Fighter instead. Guess there won't be a TP update until tomorrow at earliest.

Now I'm off to try to figure out how to geet my hands ont hose bloody trees ;)

It may only be aesthetic right now but DAMNNN those trees are great. The sound effect when you place them and cut them down is a nice touch. Can't wait to see what their purpose will become.

Place them down? I didn't notice any...

...OH DEAR GOD. D: I don't even know where a gross sound like even COMES from in the game.

Aesthetic? Oh gods no man. They definitely aren't that, and their purpose is already in.
