The Cave

Post by BinoAl »

You wake up alone in a dark, damp cave. Water is dripping on you from the stalactites on the ceiling, and you feel a slight breeze coming toward you. There is a narrow passageway to your left, barely illuminated by light. Do you:
-Head toward the breeze?
-Squeeze into the passageway toward the light?
-Head away from the breeze?
(First post decides, by the way :p)

You decide to head toward the breeze. That air feels fresh, and has to be coming from somewhere. You walk for what feels like miles, and finally see something odd. It's a tree, but underground! You notice a small creature scurry up the tree and into a hole. Do you:
-Reach inside the hole?
-Grab a stick to safely investigate the insides of the hole?
-Ignore the tree and keep on walking?
(I'd rather avoid the same person choosing twice in a row :p)

You decide it's probably best to keep on walking. After all, you want to get out, eventually. You walk for hours more, and decide to go to sleep for the night (Or what you assume is night, anyway). You see a group of stalagmites you can sleep behind, in case anything else comes. However, there is also some large mushrooms which seem to be very soft. Do you:
-Sleep behind the stalagmites, for safety?
-Sleep on the mushrooms, for comfort?

The little things are important. You decide to sleep on the mushrooms, to sleep more comfortably, and maybe be more well rested for tomorrow's inevitable walk. You start to doze off, but then you realize the mushroom is starting to distort your vision. Do you decide to
-Get off the bed and find water to dilute the spores now inside you?
-Run further into the tunnel to hopefully find help?
-Lay there and enjoy the high?

These spores could be doing who knows what to you right now, and you can't risk any harm to your health. You start walking toward the faint sound of rushing water. There are all sorts of weird insects and animals in this cave, and some are even bio-luminescent! You soon see a large, 3 foot wide glowing spider laying on the ground, and it appears to be hurt! It may be just a spider, but a lot of other things seem off in this cave, so you figure it might be a good idea to try and help it. Do you
-Keep on walking?
-Pick up the spider and carry it with you?
-Kill a few of the other insects and bring them to the spider for food before walking off?

Everything is this cave seems to be different, so you pick up the spider and carry him with you, hoping to make a new friend. After all, your all alone until you can get out. You finally find the source of the sound of water, a small water fall, which seems to be coming from a spring. You drink the water, and start feeling a bit better, yet still hungry and exhausted. Now, do you
-Try to find food?
-Go to sleep?

You decide food is more important to your health than sleep. You wander around the vicinity of where you were sleeping and finally find some glowing mushrooms. Given your last encounter with the fungi of this cave, you aren't sure if you should eat them. Do you:
-Eat the mushrooms?
-Look for something else?

Any food is better than no food, so you decide to eat the mushrooms. You immediately feel a bit funny, but nothing unbearable. You walk back to where you left the spider, and feel unusually full. You start to doze off... You wake up in the morning to find the spider had vanished. You hope he just gained the strength to live on, but you fear something much more malevolent happened. Do you
-Go off in search of the spider?
-Ignore it and keep trying to find an exit?
-Go deeper into the cave, in hopes of treasure and almost certain death? :)

While he may have not been conscious most of your time around him, the spider was the only other living thing you knew down here, and you didn't plan on losing him. You notice a small, glowing trail on the ground. Most things here were bio-luminescent, including the spider, so this may have been his blood. You don't recall him having been bleeding when you picked him up. You follow the trail into the depths of the cave, and eventually it fades away. You turn to follow the trail back out of the cave, and notice the rest of the trail has faded as well. In the distance, you see a faint, blue glow. Do you
-Head toward the glow to investigate?
-Try your best to remember where the trail of blood had been, to follow it back to where you were?
-Try your best to predict where the trail of blood had been heading, to find your spider?

You figure trying to track a dissipated blood trail is a hopeless endeavor, and decide to head toward the glow. You notice mushrooms much like the ones you slept on, only far bigger, and with large holes in the sides. Do you
-Investigate the collection of mushrooms further?
-Run out of fear of having another bad reaction?
-Attempt to climb inside the hole?

Also, since I'll be on vacation, the person who makes the choice gets to extend the story and finish it with a few choices, and so on :) I expect a tale of epic proportions when i get back, dammit! ;)

As you come near the mushrooms, you notice the holes aren't just holes, they're tunnels. You can't see what's inside, but something must have made these. Do you:
- Grab a bite of the mushrooms
- Head into the tunnels
- Run deeper into the cave
