NEW AND IMPROVED

https://www.aaaahh.net/btw/how-to-beat-btw.html

I made a static website with early game BTW recipes! It is relatively spoiler free and bare-bones, so it can provide guidance without steering your gameplay too much. Use ctrl-f or the links to search for what you need.

For those that like to put stuff up on a second monitor. Craft guide is great, but it doesn't offer much structure, nor does it give you critical information like USE SHARP ROCKS TO MINE MORE SHARP ROCKS!

OLD VVV
I am introducing BTW to some friends and family and wanted a quick reference with the basic crafting recipes all in one place. So... I made one!

There are some Super BTW recipes in there too. If you are not playing with SBTW, just ignore the recipes with branches and knives.

This list is incomplete. I plan to release a more complete one as my playgroup progresses. I would also like to make some more involved guides for maintaining a fire and chopping wood. Someday.

Enjoy!

Awesome work! This actually looks really good overall and would be great for new players.

The main criticism I have is that your addon's recipes should be completely separated from the BTW recipes if you want to advertise this as a BTW recipe guide and not an addon guide.

It is a draft more than anything, I threw it together quickly to show my cousins how to play the game. It taught me how to batch automate cropping, which might compel me to do more work like this in the future.

I noticed that some critical recipes are missing, like hampers and basket weaving! A more refined version will have to be made.

Yeah so far I think it's great :) Definitely useful to have something to point people to.

Finally got around to addressing this. New guide is SBTW free and updated with all the latest additions from CE 2.X.

I updated the site!

https://aaaahh.net/btw/how-to-beat-btw.html

Changelog:
Spoiler
Show
>added alternative recipe for making a fishing rod with iron nugget
>added recipe for bow recycling (getting string from a bow by putting it into the crafting grid)
>added new names to Hall of Fame (whuppee, Tcush, and Yertle). Also linked some more playlists
>added a link to the BTW Wiki for ease of access. Battosay has been working on the wiki like every day for months now and it is rapidly becoming fully accurate!

>fixed an issue where the windmill clutch image was displayed twice
>fixed an error where torches were described to last for 10 minutes rather than the actual 20 minutes
Currently, the site is a static html webpage. I like this because it means the pages are super lightweight and straightforward, but it comes with some issues. First of all, browsers cache the html pages and won't refresh them unless users manually force a refresh with ctrl+f5. If I update information like I did just now, users that have already visited the site aren't going to notice unless they clear their cache or know to manually refresh. Can I include some code to force the browser to redownload the html? Maybe

Next issue, everything is hard coded, including the navigation links at the top of each page. When I want to update those links, I have to copy and paste the navigation onto every page of the website. If I want to add a sidebar, that's going to be even more of a headache. Can this be solved without changing to a dynamic website with lots of back end? Of course! People have coded up static website generators that take in markdown files and templates and spits out complete html documents that I can easily drag and drop into my website. If I want to add a news page, however, I think that should be dynamically generated.

Interesting static website for consideration: https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/about ... r-website/

I updated the Hall of Fame with two names I had forgotten... SORRY! With this, I think I have all the dragon slayers? There is still a lot to do: interviews, world downloads, screenshots, videos and playlists. Since the main Discord is distancing itself from the hierarchical categorization of dragon slayers and dragon not-slayers, I have taken up the mantle of keeping track of the folks that have beaten BTW in single player. If you have accomplished this, please reach out to me! I'd love to get your name down and interview you.

It is insane that people are attempting these intense hardcore runs of BTW when there still are so few people that have beaten it even in non-hardcore mode. TDLMC and Upper man are bad influences!
