chicken breeding

hi.
I'm thinking of raising chickens.
I believe the only way for chickens to lay eggs is to feed them seeds or chicken feed.
Will the chickens lay eggs if I give them one seed or feed?
Or do I need to feed them with a full stomach?
I'm assuming that each species has a different level of satiety :)

I am also looking for an efficient way to propagate the grass.
Right now I have a maze of fences placed at regular intervals.
However, it is quickly eaten by a small number of livestock.
Do you have a good idea?

Hi, chickens only breed with chicken feed, independently of hunger.
Animals need tons of space (and yes, cows eat the most, chickens the least) so it's normal that you can keep only a couple alive. Later you can feed them with straw and other items, or use grass conveyor belts.
