Hello.

I'm playing an older version btw.
A new version has recently come out and I would like to update, can I continue to play on my current world?
Please let me know how to do that.

Yep, older worlds will still work on the newer versions. I would recommend backing up your world just in case but there shouldn't be any issues.

In that case, should I replace the java file with a new one?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that? The easiest way to install the mod is through multiMC where you can just point it at a new zip for the mod, but if you are not using multiMC then theoretically you should just be able to install over your old version (though doing a fresh install is never a bad idea).
