Booyah!

Post by FlowerChild »

Just thought I'd share what kept me up last night working on some rather complex 3D mathematics ;)

This looks like it uses just a single block, is that a good guess?

It looks very nice.

More stonebrick stuff to build with. That's great, because it's my favourite material.

Thanks flowerchild.

Oh Flowerchild, you have the uncanny ability to add features right when I need them. The material is even the same as my current project.

Based on what's coming out of vMC, I'd guess that it uses the same type of logic as the new corner stairs, or it could be a new block type you craft in the anvil.

More stone bricks! I'm scared, yet excited! I cannot wait to see where this is going.

If it was just stone bricks it would have been a 30 minute job that most definitely wouldn't have kept me up last night working on it ;)

Those definitely aren't mouldings and corners. I wonder how they will work.

Definitely stone bricks mouldings and corners, look at the wall ;)
But even better, it's the way they connect :) Unless it's a new block that serve this purpose ^^

My first thought was corners and moldings too, but.... there's something off about it. They connect too well. They take up a 3x3x3 cube. There's something off and I can't tell what it is! *tinfoilhat*

I bet it's a single small stone brick block that connects to other blocks of that type in all 6 faces like fences do to all 4 on the same level.

It seems like a block that connects vertically and horizontally to perform absolutely awesome structures

After I learned of the XP storage coming up, I wanted to make a mod for cube-like corners, but never got around to it. Now my CDO can truly be at rest.

My thought process:
1. Oh wow! It's a change to mouldings/corners/panels that lets them connect to each other like stairs!
2. There must be something else hidden in that picture...
3. <searching>
4. Oh well, let's find out by reading the comments.
5. Stone brick small-blocks! Ooh! Not only fancy look!

Just out of curiosity and because I haven't gotten much feedback on it:

How are people liking the new placement system on Siding/Moulding/Corners?

I know I'm using them a hell of a lot more now as a result of it, which is why I'm having these kinds of ideas ;)

Personally anything that lets me make things look fancier makes me happy. I can now make ceiling mosaics and wainscoting and crown molding all of which makes me giddy with joy.

Err so in answer to the question, I like the new placement system.

The placement is MUCH better than before, it feels more intuitive and it is very convenient by not having to go through 1-11 right clicks to get the right orientation. The only way this can be more precise is if you added a GUI, and that would just be overkill.

Good to hear. I'd definitely like to hear from folks that have been using them more as a result of that change, as I think that one kind of got lost in the madness of all the things I've been releasing recently :)

I know for myself it tipped the scales in terms of convenience to the point where I am more inclined to think about using them in my projects. Before, it was such a pain to get them aligned correctly, that I think I'd often write them out of my plans just to avoid the hassle.

And yeah, a GUI would definitely be more work than it is worth. As it stands, after you've placed a few, you hardly ever make mistakes again with them, which I think is entirely sufficient.

I think a GUI would really only benefit first-time users, and likely only for a few minutes, and in contrast to the hours of work it would require, the cost/benefit just doesn't add up.

FC, you have just made me a very happy roofer. I can finally build seamless roofs on all my buildings now! I totally love it!

The only think is that you said it took you over 30 min to figure it out... so I don't it is a simple to use as I think it is....
