Pastry talk

Post by Talarga08 »

Just that... Being the only good thing about the Y U NO UPDATE rants in MCF, I wanted to take that delicious gastronomical debates here, starting with this awesome "argentinean" tart.

It's called a coconut and dulce de leche tart and it's made from dulce de leche (a sugar and milk Nutella-like argentinean paste) and shredded coconut.

I'd like to clarify that this post is NOT some pasive agresive update request. However if FC finds it inappropiate I'll take it down with no second thougths, as this being my first post I don't want to make it the last :)

This is a Hello Dolly, and it is by far my favorite baked good. It's basically Graham Crackers, chocolate chips, and coconut held together with sweetened condensed milk. It's heavenly sweet, and dense too. Like a chocolate chip cookie taken up to 11. I'm pretty sure just a square inch of it would be a week's allowance of sugar, and I don't care.

Not sure whether it qualifies as pastry, really, but I've always been rather fond of monchou pie myself:

I play videogames, program, animate, draw, write music and play waterpolo. That makes me one unusual bowl of salsa.

I dunno if it's the refreshing feeling or the fact that it gives the guise of being healthy (I do try to watch my girlish figure...s), but I've always liked fruit tarts.

This is a "torta bombon". This delicious, diabetes inducing monstruosity is composed by a vanilla or chocolate thin dough base, a thick layer of dulce de leche (a kind of enhanced condensated milk) and a thin layer of chocolate.

I'm in love with this crap even if consuming more than a square inch of it can make you go blind and drop a foot :D

I'm more partial to a simple mudcake. Served slightly warm with e.g. arrack punch-flavoured whipped cream and a raspberry sauce

Aaaaah, I'm chocking with saliva while reading this thread. I like all kinds of sweet stuff like this, but exclusive tarts and cakes I enjoy the most.

That's pretty much what my husband was saying when I was taking the picture. Then I ate most of it. Cause it's mine, damnit.

The mention of baklava reminded me of my OTHER favourite Greek pastry, Ravani. I had trouble finding a picture that does it justice, though :'(
