New Release! (BTW V3.40)
Re: New Release! (BTW V3.40)
Now testing the trees' growth properties.
I hate the Bloodwood Leaves. Why don't they disappear like regular leaves? It is both frustrating and ugly in my base :(

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.40)
Hmm, 1 hour 30 minutes till I get a chance to play. But alas I'm not supposed to play during the week (I don't get along with my parents) so, I guess I won't be able to figure out how to make these saplings. I guess it doesnt matter because I just started a new world yesterday and I only have 16 hemp seeds so I'm nowhere close to any BTW items what so ever. Anyways thanks for the update.
Re: New Release! (BTW V3.40)
Getting home from work is nice. It means this update is leaving me drooling in my chair. (That or the traditional after work glass of scotch... not quite sure which... though the addition of the Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale today may be contributing as well)
The spice must flow...

So is this *the* nether update? Or the beginning of a series of nether updates?

All I'm going to say is that I left the tree in my base alone,I came back and I was very scared....

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.40)
So, FC just added a weird tree as a resource?
...wait, something is wrong here.
j/k, but that really reminded me of some old discussions about mods adding weird trees...
But if it's your tree, I'll like it. I'm almost sure of that.

I like the fact the upper side is just a reddish version of the top of the Companion Slab.

Atleast it's not modifying world generation ;) Plus who doesn't love a tree that cries like babies when you cut it down :)Jay42 wrote:So, FC just added a weird tree as a resource?

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.40)
So I've spent half an hour or so rubbing saplings and netherwortwart against things tentatively. Time to check the wiki I think.
Though reports suggest maybe it's one of those Things Steve Was Not Meant To Know. Perhaps I'll just put the vegetable pieces away and go build a greenhouse like a sensible person who doesn't want to go mad or worse.
Edit: It is done. It is... not a pretty thing, the sleeping infant plant. I think it should be anathema to my gaze, but I cannot bring myself to call it ugly. I shall plant it at the bottom of the lake, and pray it cannot bear fruit so far from its hellish motherland.

Still working on the saplings. I've been trying to avoid using the wiki for this one but I may end up peeking if I've not figured it out by the weekend. I'm impressed that you were able to make the saw cut wood slabs but not stone or brick. I thought that sort of thing wasn't possible due to the shared block ID.

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.40)
Hehe...glad to see all the experimentation going on. I get the impression no-one has really encountered the true horror of this thing yet though, so I'll just sit back and wait for the screams to begin ;)
I actually came up with a few tweaks I want to make to it overnight, so I'll probably throw together a small release with those and a few bug fixes and small features today. It may not look like it at first glance, but that tree was actually a lot of work so I was eager to wrap it up and get it out to you guys after spending a few days on it.
In the case of the Saw, I just have to check a block's data when I'm cutting it. I'm not relying on any built-in functionality in that case, so it's very simple.

Nah, that kind of thing is actually very easy when I'm dealing with my own blocks. Where it gets tricky is when I'm dealing with relatively low-level routines built into MC like the sound of foot-steps or what have you, which is stuff that is triggered within base-classes and thus becomes difficult to modify based on metadata without being highly invasive.DaveYanakov wrote:Still working on the saplings. I'm pretty sure I already know what it does, but I'm going to leave it a little longer to confirm, because it sounds like it might get interesting :D

There's an aspect of it's behavior that no-one has discussed yet that I'm actually quite proud of. Will keep my mouth shut here to avoid giving anything further away.

Ok, yes, then I know it :). Knew it right after I planted the first one. Hence my mention above of not being sure how to automate something like that :DFlowerChild wrote:Hehe...if you knew what it does, you'd know it ;)
I don't want that thing anywhere near my base for now :o

I definately understand why blood wood needs a soul now. Christ! I've some ideas on auto harvesting. Requires further testing...
