I am mixed equally with happiness, and with fear.

Those angels still haunt my nightmare, and they're part of the only reason I own a gun.

I've never been the same since those episodes.

This. That slate-on-stone sound needed AM.

This is actually pretty cool, and I love more variety in monsters. Not so big on silliness though, didn't much enjoy Mo' Creeps and Weirdos.
Abracadabra, you're an idiot.

That's actually the episode (The Doctor's Wife) I was watching when I replied to the post :p It did feel very Gaiman-ish (which is a good thing).[/quote]

That's probably due to it being written by Niel Gaiman.

Last weeks episode (12 of series 6) explainsvery well why mucking with fixed points is a poor idea. Before that, having the Angels reappear wasossib
Y the most frightening moment of the series.

Sad to say, but I don't think guns work on the angels :)

Oh, don't worry. I know. They're not for them, silly. They're for me.

Fates far worse than death, if you think about it.

(Seriously, though. I heard that statue dragging sound in the back of my mind every so often and it still scares the shit out of me.)

I think the getting them to look at each other thing is pretty awesome !
After the Weeping Angels, my favorite DrWho monster is probably the Silents.
Actually that's not their name but i don't know what their real one is :/

The Silence refers to the group of people that race is involved in, not necessarily the race itself, right? Anyway, yeah, they are freaking awesome. A monster you don't remember unless you're looking at it... Why can't video games have this creative, interesting, and inspired monster design? It would be really interesting to have to fight something like these, although i can't think of any way to simulate them in a game... lol

Has anyone seen if there's a minmum light level for 'seeing' the Angels?

Not certain but I guess there might be since they take out light sources (at least torches and glowstone blocks).

Hmm... Now if it would be doable to make them a finite and/or spawner mob to keep them from becoming commonplace and work the basic creeper 'hide around corners' AI into them they could easily be the perfect boss encounter for an Adventure map.

Nah, I don't think that species (not race) are called silents. They are known under that nickname in the meantime, until we find out what they really are.

Just finished watching the Doctor Who episode with this nice quote (Berlin 1938, in response to a nazi officer asking that the person is doing):
"Well, I was on my way to this gay gypsy bar mitzvah for the disabled when I suddenly thought 'Gosh, the Third Reich's a bit rubbish, I think I'll kill the Fuhrer.?

I don't really see how these are supposed to be so scary? They're like Endermen in reverse...so much easier to deal with.

If the people showing off the mod hadn't actually been showing it off and goofing around, they wouldn't be any worse than any other monster.

Edit: Well, I guess it is a matter of what creeps you out. I don't like the look of Endermen at all. How they move and stare at you and shuffle about way in the distance is just chilling.

Honestly, if you apply the lore from the Whovian universe, they're 100 times scarier. Though, I suppose they'd only be scary in Minecraft if you don't have a pick on you.

For them to be true to the original's scaryness they'd have to be very much faster and instantly kill you (and impossible to kill). I think the new light system made them less scary since you can now clearly see them even when it's supposed to be completely dark.
