Groth Performance Hit

Post by Whuppee »

Substantial frame rate drops when within 8 chunks, but only if looking in its direction, whether or not it's visible. I can turn my back when right next to it my frames return to normal.

Can't see that it's having any increased load on my cpu, memory, etc, but there is a substantial spike in the shift+f3 render process, from around 30-60% straight to 98ish%

Not sure that's at all helpful, but would appreciate advice on how to proceed. Thank you.

If I remember right, you haven't used Groth before, right? So, not something you can tell whether it's new or not.

Anyone else having issues with this?

Yeah, first time.

There are a few bloodwoods in the area too, but the seeming directionality has me suspecting the groth more.

I just took a look at the code (been ages since I dug into it) and I think I spotted an error which might be causing excessive rendering to take place.

Will get that fixed up for next release. Please let me know if it helps

Hey Flower, sorry to have not answered sooner; I hadn't played since.

It's about a 10-20 fps hit now, where before it was around 60-80. I'll need to see if it's notably worse while streaming, but I think it's fixed.

Thank you! =)
