"Redstone Inducer", "Redstone Activator", or "Redstone Motivator".
While not simple like most of the MC block/item names, it's inline with "Redstone Repeater". Inducer, Activator, and Motivator are just synonyms for Actuator btw.

Guys why the insistance on "redstone" in the name? If I'm reading it correct FC specifically didn't want to suggest that the redstone was doing the work. I'm still saying "Mechanism" btw, it's generic enough to cover all its possible applications and easily understandable what its use is.
On the internet you can be whatever you want. It's surprising so many people choose to be stupid.

Something simple like "Doohickey", "Mechanism" or even just "Golden Gear" would suit it best I believe.
