I was looking around the ancient bits of the forums and I noticed that this community likes DF. So here's my proposal:
-Standard Succession
-Any level of skill
-Slightly stupid fortress location (perhaps next to elven city?)
Anyone interested?

I had never played Dwarf Fortress succession games. Can you explain what's standard succession?
Basically, everyone plays for one year, then passes it on to the next person. You record events in a diary-like format, and post it up for everyone to read.

No, a DF game played by the BTW community. :)

I'm in depending on how much time you're given to complete your year. I have never really succeeded in writing down interesting occurances so I'm curious how this will work out.

As long as you need (within reason, try not to take up a week).

I might do it. I'm freaking terrible at DF though, so I don't think i should start off, or the colony will collapse to start with. I'll need to reinstall it, and do some more tutorials! I may not have enough time to do too much either, so put me down as a maybe.
The hard part will be remembering :)
All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.
I would be up for this! I've clocked a considerable number of hours into DF, but I've never played a succession game before and I am very interested to see how it'll go.
I have never played DF, so I wouldnt subject your succession game to the epic fail that would be my rule. I would however love to be able to read the stories people tell after their turn, provided of course people go a bit further with it than "killed some cows, met a dwarf woman, events transpired. Your turn!" :)
The general quality of posts on this forum do indicate that just the diary read could be quite the treat though!
I would love to play except that, like Thalarctia, I would likely be the demise of the fortress because of something stupid like accidentally selling glass to the elves.
However, if you are ever in need of random dwarf names, please accept DNoved, legendary cheesemaker. (or whatever)
I've never played DF and so I'd probably have to finally get around to that and learn the game before I'd be willing to take something of the community's into my own hands, but I'm totally interested to see where all this goes and if I do indeed get to be a decent player I'd be glad to take a turn.
Til then, totally sounds awesome to have my name used if you guys get a chance :D
*raises hand* I'm in! I am not adept in my skill, but I think I could manage it for a year without utter destruction. My knowlege of how to work with the military and unusual embarks is pretty flimsy, so that should make for lots of nearly fun experiences.
