BD won't dispense some items in item form

The BD will not dispense the following in item form: carrots, potatoes, seeds (wheat, melon, pumpkin, hemp). Is this intended behaviour?

This is not a bug. It is intended behavior to allow for automated planting setups.

That makes sense. I was trying to use BDs to feed animals for breeding, its useful that BD can face downwards. Lock this up then.
