Update: I have tried any kind of fresh install of minecraft and BTW you can think of and it still is giving me this error. Also I have tried it on two computers in my house and they encounter the same error.

Ok tried it with just Modloader and Better than wolves and I am still getting this error. Thankfully I still have my 1.2.5 jar so i can still play Btw.
Also tried doing a fresh install of Minecraft, no change, still getting that damned error. If ANYONE is able to figure out what my minecraft is doing you will have my undying gratitude.
What are you using to install your mods? The error screen has things I don't recognize as usually being there. Are you using magic launcher or something?

Well, then I have no idea. You said you already tried a fresh install of minecraft. Maybe try again, but delete Everything first? (backup saves first of course) Assuming of course that this isn't what you already did... :/

That is what I did.
It's really frustrating when you can't figure out what's going wrong with your install when you have been following the instructions.
Already tried that SterlingRed. Even tried just ModLoader and Better Than Wolves. It doesn't matter whether I enter an existing world or create a new one, I always encounter that error.
Though I can still play in 1.2.5 (Yay backups!).
I am sure. Even deleted .minecraft and had it re downloaded just to have that extra layer of sureness.
I'm actually coming to my wit's end with this, I mean I've done evrything that I could think of, even re-installing java and nothings working! Just what do I have to do to get minecraft to work? Would sacraficing a sheep to the java gods do it? I mean shesh, for something that should be simple it sure does seem like it wants to fuck with me.
Dwarg91 wrote:Absolutely clean and fresh downloads of the entire .minecraft folder and the absolute latest ML and BTW downloaded, and still I get this error.
All right, but did you try with just ML installed? And you did *redownload* them to be sure, yes?
The error is obviously on your end man, and I'm trying to help you find out what it is.
Yup did re-download them and even ML alone produces the error. Kinda figured that it's my end since no one else seems to have this problem and I thank you for your help.

Ah, ok...so what we're looking at here is a Modloader installation issue as opposed to a BTW one.
I use .7z to unzip the minecraft bin then I drag the contents of modloader into the minecraft folder overwriting the original class files then when I have all the mods copied over that don't go into the mods folder I zip the files up into a folder called minecraft.zip then I rename that to minecraft.jar putting it into the bin folder when done.
Don't know what to tell you then man. Something is obviously fucked with your Modloader install, so my only advice would be to go ask for help over on the MCF ML thread and see if anyone recognizes your error.
Ok tried to install ModLoader into the .jar without extracting and .7z won't allow me to do that and I don't want to deal with the mess that is getting WinRar, so I got MultiMC and that is working.
Now the reason why extracting the files from minecraft.jar won't work is that aux isn't a valid file name in Windows so any program that you could use to extract the files will rename aux.class to something else thus breaking minecraft.
So in short, this problem is not with ModLoader or Better Than Wolves but illegal filenames in Windows.
Dont do any extracting
Right click on minecraft.jar
highlight 7zip
click open archive
find the modloader download
right click
highlight 7zip
you will now have 2 7zip archives open
go into the one for modloader
press ctrl+a to highlight everything
drag these files into the window of the minecraft.jar archive
a box will pop up
select yes
once this is done, find the minecraft.jar archive
right click in the META-Inf folder
press delete
press yes
close the archives
run minecraft
