Getting Rid of Cows

I have a fun little hardcore Hoofsies story. I had a nice 5x5 cow pit with about 20 cows in it. I wanted to get rid of these cows to put a hibachi in the floor so I could safety kill them at my leasure. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good plan to get rid of them. I couldn't hit them with my sword as I would just be smacked back. Taking out 20+ cows one hit at a time would take too long. I could use a bow but that would require a large amount of arrows I did not have. I thought about opening a hole in the ceiling to let mobs in when inspiration struck me. Two TNT blocks later, I had an empty cow pit and a smile on my face.

you can dig a hole under them so they just take fall damage and die and last just remove the floor under them.

Fun fact!
Saws don't anger cows. They just get chopped up until death. You can run around in the pit safely pushing them into death.
