[Spoilers] BTW Tech Tree Visualization

Post by Mason11987 »

A while back I made one of these but quite a bit has changed since then. This is a flowchart showing the process from spawn to the various ends of the BTW tech tree. Obviously it's full of spoilers. Check it out!

Spoilered below is a large (on size and file size) image of the tech tree from my dropbox. I also uploaded an .svg which is still pretty big but it has some alignment issues.

I tried to make the bottlenecks apparent and display as much changed or new stuff as possible in an organized way.

Feel free to use this to show others how awesome Better Than Wolves is!

Edit: And here is the visio file

I still find it awesome and slightly disturbing to see my thought process mapped out like this :)

Why are some lines of different colors?

Edit.
Oh, I see. Different processes... You should add some labels to this map...

Better Than Wolves was borne of anal sex. True Story.

I think the best lesson to take from this is that the top of the BTW tech tree is the Compansion slab, and the stone button.

Edit - Good call. Added a legend in the top-right corner.

Is anyone else having deja vu about the first two posts of this thread, or is it just me?

Ha, no I made a similar thing prior to some big changes about 8 months ago. Since so much had changed I thought a new thread was in order.

and my friend keeps telling me BTW doesn't have much to do...

Edit:Spoted a error, the cauldron recipes are all with the "stoked" arrow, but not all of them are made with stoked fire

Huh? :)

Of the many complaints I've heard, that's definitely one of the oddest.

I labeled the stoked ones with "Stoked", and the regular with nothing, so I didn't need yet another color. I'll fix the legend to make that more clear.

If there's one labeled "stoked" on the diagram that shouldn't be let me know. Orange without stoked is regular cauldron recipe.

I've heard it before. The complaint is basically that modpacks add 5000 new blocks to play around with. It's silly.

The only mistake I noticed is that the priest requirements are switched with the librarian/scientist ones. That also changes the progression somewhat.

You're right, that makes killing the wither a requirement before going to the end right? Pretty substantial oversight on my part. Will shift around.

Edit - Fixed

Not quite the same, but my group refuses to play because "It takes to long to do anything".

I am going to show this chart around though, with any luck the tech tree laid out might be enough to get a server running.

Absolutely lovely seeing it all laid out like that.

Also, you seem to be missing the potion hierarchy. It's hardly essential but as of hardcore brewing it's a fairly in depth process with legitimate progression so it might be worth including.

Uhm, no wooden spade. Chart is invalid.

I'm totally kidding. My god, I'm a law major and my friend is a Biology major, and between the two of us this thing looks like the Oghma Infinitum. And believe you me, we're used to seeing some complicated bull$h!t. I commend you for your effort and dedication!

A small thing but the arrow from Ender Slag to Brimstone says "Stoiked" instead of "Stoked".

Ha, thanks. Fixed that. Also took a stab at potions. I hadn't realized that it's possible to get up to throwable potions of weakness extended without ever visiting the nether. For the particularly cautious player this might mean a trip to a swamp to find a brewing stand might be worthwhile before you brave a nether fortress to find your first netherwart.

I think FC should make an official version of this and sell it as a giant poster. Help fund RTH.

Edit: That or some other BTW merch. I would totally buy a couple of Tee Shirts with some BTW exclusive humor. Especially knowing that the money was going to help a game developer that I have a fondness for. They could even be fan submissions with all the proceeds going to FC since he has more important things to do than design shirts. Well I feel I am sufficiently off topic for this thread to be afraid now....

This just in! RTH to contain a TARDIS!

Mason11987's png and svg files seem to have expired

Would either Mason11987 or someone who had the foresight to save this somewhere and not forget where it is mind (re)uploading it somewhere?
