That is pretty exploity. Especially if you are using it to walk through lava without taking damage.

I know, but maybe it is not more exploiting than hit a creaper behind a fence without taking damage :) This is just a provocation, I in first stance told that it was exploit. I generally use a WC-siphon, without water, with a trapdoor or an underwater passage. Sometimes i used trapdoors as half door, placed in vertical.

Not much more exploity than blocking your entrance with dirt, imo.

My door in my current world is a trap-door at ground level next to an exposed ravine I've been slowly working my way through. I've been snuck up on coming out in the morning, so this time I've erected a rudimentary wall one two sides (the other two sides are the open ravine and a shoreline.) so far it's been working out ok.

For the record, my outer base "entrance" looks like this:

if you think THAT boat trick is exploity take a look at the automatic boatdrawbridges you can make using the ghost-boat bug, goddamn shenanigans right there.

My early game exploity way of deterring mobs is to have a one block wide entrance with halfslabs at the top and bottom and then dropping down one block to a door. Two block tall mobs don't recognize the passage way because it's technically not two full blocks tall (.5 + 1 + .5). One block sized mobs like starved wolves and jungle spiders will get stopped at the door, and you have a half-block gap above the door to whack at them while they bounce around trying to get in.

And to prevent spiders from being able to attack me on the way out, I build a corridor.

Cactus also helps if it's available.

In finally finished my base entrance !

Basic design of the door is inspired by etho's, with added soulforged steel pressure plates to prevent monsters from accessing the base.

That's not wolf-safe, right? Not that it matters much, wolves don't roam around much.

Not wolf safe no, but since they don't "re"spawn, and it's not a starting door at all, it doesn't matter that much no :)

Yeah, that's what I figured. Wouldn't be usable near a jungle, but otherwise safe enough :)

I just asked to see if I maybe missed some sort of NCP pathing exploit.
