This addon allows you to explore maps while sailing. With this addon, if you have a sail and a map in adjacent slots on your hotbar, holding either one counts as holding the other one as well. If you hold a map with a sail next to it, your boat will still move forward. If you hold a sail with a map next to it, the areas you sail through will be explored on your map.

Install by placing the jar file in the mods folder.

The Boat Mapping Addon is available under the CC0 1.0 license.

The Boat Mapping Addon is now open source, and available under the CC0 1.0 license! I have edited the OP to reflect that, and to point to the community github repository for downloads.

Boat Mapping 1.1 is available!

The only purpose of this release is to fix a compatibility issue with newer versions of the Deco Addon. Functionality is completely unchanged, there is no reason to update unless you want to use the Boat Mapping with Deco.

Boat Mapping 1.2 is available!

The addon is now updated for BTW CE 2.0 using fabric mixins. Now you can install it by placing it in the mods folder.

This is one of those must have additions, like the fishbait addon. I say let's include it in CE!

Boating improvements will be coming at some point :) Likely in the form of just having a sailboat, which would solve the root problem.
