Re: The Feature Request / Suggestion Thread - LIMITED TIME O

I like ko_teknik's idea of a wheat block that acts as an animal-feed version of a cake block. Generally, I have no idea what to do with multiple chests of surplus slimeballs, and cisterns seem to be a very iron-expensive-in-early-game decorative block. I always scratch my head when I peer out into a...

Re: Nether Fortress (Survival tip)

For me, the first order of business is to get to the nether-roof. That means that once I get the d-pick and two portals' worth of obsidian, I stash it in my base and wait until I have at least a few stacks of cobble, ideally at least half an inventory of it. In the overworld, I often have my portal ...

Re: Tamed wolves disappearing?

Thank you for quoting the wiki to me. Please allow someone else to reply who might be able to address the question I'm actually asking: What, if anything, is unique about BTW and how it treats the spawn chunks. For the second time, I'm already familiar with what you've quoted to me. I read it. I und...

Re: Tamed wolves disappearing?

That's my question. Respectfully, I've deployed the googles and I've read the vMC wiki. I'm curious if this mod, specifically, does anything to alter vMC spawn chunk definitions or behavior. I note in the vMC wiki that when puttering around in the nether (or the End, in fact) the overworld spawn chu...

Re: Tamed wolves disappearing?

And if I might inquire on this not-yet-necro thread, can someone help me understand how to identify a spawn chunk? I can locate the exact OS with a compass, is it a specific radius? Is there anything about spawn chunk behavior that is different from vMC baseline?

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A6 Sided Sideshow) - NO SPOILERS

Offline, the terms "shaft," "haft," "stick," "skewer," and any others present in BTW that I might've missed tend to be either interchangeable or else differ only subtly. Do we have skewers? That would complicate things :) -snip- So really, it's a question of ...

Separate topic regarding recent chunk-corruption bugfixes

In my recent SSP with world generated and played entirely in [Timing Rodent b], I experienced a rather nasty spate of what I think might've been cascading chunk corruptions spread across at least two distinct separate events, as far as I recall being able to tell from sifting through a rather copiou...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A6 Sided Sideshow) - NO SPOILERS

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Fixed glaring oversight where Skulls could not be placed atop Shafts. This will give some much needed extra panache to my spike pits. Some vines on top, a pit below, some shafts, a few skulls, it just really ties the room together. Offline, the terms "shaft," ...

The wonderful Sophie's Choice of mod updates

I'm honestly interested in others' opinions (either generally or specifically in light of this recent-and-possibly-still-ongoing rapid series of updates and injections of new life into the mod -- thank you FC, I love your work and am a true admirer of your design ethic) as to resets. Re: [Spoilers] Extra hardcore nothing to worry about BTW V4.

I'm wondering if this is incentive to relocate some of our traditional workshop flow (netherrack grinding / soul urn production) into the nether itself. (Edit: I did not intend to imply that this change were made with the explicit GOAL of incentivizing moving some mechanized production to a netherba...

To clarify -- I speed-tech to renewable diamonds, which yes requires blaze rods, which yes requires fortress hunting. Yes, that involves nether roof-tunneling with soulsand. Yes, locating the fortress and creating escape routes and hidey-alcoves within it with spare cobble from home. Also, I periodi...

You see I slap a mill stone in the most practical (ugly) place I can find for it, then once I have a crucible and renewable tools I might go back and make a proper windmill or something like that. I can answer that ideal spacing for a few versions has been every fifth square (each seed shroom followed by four dead squares.) Re: The Room

IMO, it's really about the experience rather than the problem solving. The puzzles are just difficult enough to feel satisfying while never really being taxing. Yeah, it's odd, the whole tactile feel of it and the experience (even the story and the way it's presented) is what really makes the game....
